Well as soon as I can get access to the other forum I post in I will post the 3 chapters I have written in regards to the federal income tax. She's updating the site though so the forums been down. Hopefully it will be back soon so I can access if not I can do it the hard way.

But if you missed it the first time we tried the politics forum you'll definately want to sit back with a huge bottle of beer maybe a 24 pack as you'll want it just to drowned out how stupid you feel that you've been dupped all these years by the government in relation to taxation. Not saying you're stupid but you'll sure feel that way and you'll have a rage growing inside that overwhelms the feeling of stupidty because you'll have to wonder why it is so many refuse to stand up to such corruption!!! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

But yeah I have voted twice in my life once when I turned 18 was during King George the 1st and once during the last election though not for King George the 2nd. Hey was King George the king of England during the American Revolution? Now we have our own home grown King Georges. dry.gif mad.gif

QUOTE (Catriona @ Jun 18 2003, 12:36 PM)
I think Ireland is best left to those who live there.....

Did I really read that on this board?!
blink.gif

The perspective from the Brits as compared to the Irish is much like the perspective from the US media as compared to Al Jazeera (or Al Jareau as we like to call it). After spending time with a Marine that was in Iraq, there are stories that will NEVER be told to the American people, as they would be outraged and embarassed.

Also, I do have many relatives still in Ireland... both the North and the South. There are Catholics, and there are Church of Ireland... including a Grand-Uncle who's a Canon in Armagh. Family members have been murdered, threatened, jailed and expelled for reasons that would make the ACLU cringe. Their religious affiliations have absolutely NO influence on any of their opinions.

Yes, I live in the USA. Yes, I am the first male in my family born here. But, as with many who protested the US actions recently and denounced the policies and actions... they were not from the US or Iraq. Hopefully, foreign opinion and voice will NEVER be silent when it comes to another country's actions.

This is all written with complete respect and understanding for other opinions and knowledge. I like the people on this board WAY too much to "flame" anyone... especially over politics! I prefer to joke, laugh and yap about nothing. Therefore, I'll just maintain a steady keel, support my family, and not go into the political or propaganda wars.

Yes, Jim, you DID read it on this board wink.gif

All I'm saying is - I do not presume to make any comments re US internal politics - I truly do feel it is best left to you citizens...

Likewise - I feel that the problems of Ireland are best left to the natives of BOTH countries.....

I have visited Ireland on many occasions - and to use the old cliche - some of my best friends are Irish rolleyes.gif

I was brought up a Catholic in Scotland - which, although nowhere NEAR as bad as the Orange Order or the IRA - has had its own sectarian problems. I was once in Glasgow during an Orange March and was unwittingly caught up in it - not an experience I would wish to repeat.

Agencies like NORAID helped perpetrate the violence in Northern Ireland. The USA closed it eyes to their dealings for many, many years. I have contacts within the UK's Special Branch - so, like you, I suppose I have details which will never see the light of day or public scrutiny.

I think we should agree to disagree here, I certainly don't want to fall out with anyone. All I ask is, that on what purports to be an 'international' board, care is taken when expressing opinions... I know I am in the very small minority who post from Scotland and other parts of the UK (pace Tartangal and FotW!) - but we are still entitled to our opinions cool.gif

I'd like to be more active in politics, in fact I once took the lead and fought a local cab stand right out of town - although a near riot insued when about 200 angry taxi drivers didn't realize the time to abutt was the prior week. he he he

But seriously, I just got no time trying to build this damn website! biggrin.gif

(I really do enjoy it though!)

Damn Highlander. Up until now I thought you were a pretty level-headed person. Now you're opening up the board for a whole new set of politician jokes. I'll refer you to the appropriate thread biggrin.gif

Seriously though, if you support the bill of rights (all 10 of 'em, you ain't allowed to pick and choose what you like) then I'll wish you very best of luck in your campaign. If you're running as a libertarian I may even send a contribution.

Looks like it's been a while since anyone has posted on this thread! My turn!

I am a Republican by birth and by choice. I vote like crazy. I write my state reps and my congressmen/women. I sign petitions and I am a member of Concerned Women for America. I also do silent protests of abortion. That is, we stand on the main intersection of town with signs saying such things as "Pro-life" and "Adoption is a loving option" and we do not speak or yell anything to passing motorists. We have been yelled at by passengers and drivers and we have been encouraged by some as well. Oh yes, everyone in our family home-schools their kids!

I find it approriate to post this here today , July 4, 2003.

If you would read Swanny's post about the reason for this day in history you will see in those words where I stand politicaly.

A government for the people by the people , not a government by the wealthy to steal from the people.

If I were to list some of the political activities I am involved in, ...well let me just say it would not be prudent.

I use my right to vote and I used to talk alot with the politicians that were reachable and lived local to me. Signed petitions and even put up a petitition myself.
I was a member of the Childrens Parliament of my hometown and of the young greens (the green party).

I am a member of A.I. since my 18th birthday.

I'm a member of the WWF for Nature and an organisation against the abuse of children and a german group against atomic-energy and testing more a/b/c-weapons.

I use my right to protest in a non-violent way. I don't like violence, especially when you want to protest for peace and human rights.

smile.gif That's all... I probably will get less active when I get older but I am young, and I think my voice deserves to be heard..
What will be left over when I'm gone?

It's probably just as well that I don't live in the Republik of Kalifornia. If so, I'm afraid I'd have to vote for the porn star. I figure if the people are gonna get screwed there ought to at least be an appearance of sex in the process. tongue.gif

The way I express my activism is through getting on the phone and contacting my U.S. Representive and my State Senator. I have been known for getting on "my soap-box" when an issue gets my dander up! I have even by-passed receptionists desks by changing the last digits of government phone numbers and talking personally with politicians. Once I wrote my Senator, and he personally sent a reply letter to me. I sign petitions, participate in silent protests, vote, and support non-profit organizations.

I strongly believe in fighting for the U.S. "Bill of Rights" and "State's Rights". It is funny---we now have to fight to protect a document that is suppose to do our fighting for us. unsure.gif

Well I disagree it's suppose to do the fighting for us as Jefferson said a little rebellion every now and then is good to remind the government whose in charge (Not exact words but close enough). And personally in my view we're way way over due. Lasdt rebellion we had in this country was almost 150 years ago and that one was only 80 years after the first unsure.gif

I hate war but I hate what this country is coming to with the size our government is getting to in part due to an unconstitutional income tax.
