Careful Love

You say you Love me
Yet you know me not.
Nor will you ever.
For what is me is
Mine and mine alone
To know.
Yes I will Love you
In return, but ne'er
Again will passion burn.
The Flames mere coals
That give off warmth
But glow dull red
As they grow cold.
I will not let
The Fire burn
The desire, the need
Will not return.
Once they ruled
My very Soul, and
With their death
A pain untold.
Yes I will Love you
In my way, for
That other price
I will not pay.

A well written Poem, words true from the heart....Camac, I believe you were the one that said one must open their Heart to let Love in.

However I can relate to your poem. Once a person loves unconditionally, only to have their heart broken, one tends to become "guarded" and extremely careful, so that the heart does not suffer again.

Thank you. I believe what I wrote about opening up to love but from a personal point I an somewhat reticent. One to may let downs. Mayhaps one day I will feel safe enough to try again.
