What Movies Have You Seen Recently?, Old and new

There are many movies coming out all the time and some we have never seen until recently. Thought we could share what we have seen recently and give a critique of what we thought and if we would recommend the film.

The last movie I saw was...*thinking*...High Fiedlity. It is a great movie. The top 5 lists are something I do a lot, and the characters remind me of my friends. The ycan be real music snobs.

Oh, John Cusak is a real hottie, which makes it even beter, and you can see Catheroine Zeta-Jones before she was Catherine Zeta-Jones

Last movies I saw were Hulk, The Core, 2 Fast 2 furious, and Blasing Saddles.

Hulk
Ok I guess. wasn't really all that impressed. Not enough action and suspense for a movie with such a character in it

The Core
Good movie, good story. LOADS of room for improvement. Rat wouldn't last two seconds, might have deleted three files when they found him and messed up a couple others. nothing that wouldn't be quickly recovered.
And how does the Golden Gate melt while there are still people screaming in the cars?
And then there are a bunch of other things. But as a movie, it's pretty good.

2 Fast 2 Furious
Not as much action as in the first movie, but also not as much room for technical inaccuracies. They don't dwell as much on technicalities, and focus more on the story, which is good. this and The Fast and the Furious Each have things over the other one. The second DVD's extras were pretty cool though. Major improvment over the first one, which quite frankly, you'd probably be better off getting VHS. The menus and extras sucked on that one. Definately worth checking out here though.

Blasing Saddles
Ok, I like Mel Brooks, but this could have been better. Spaceballs it certainly ain't! It has it's moments, and I'm not going to run from it. but I doubt I'll be in any hurry to see it again either

Hey! Last night I saw an old movie in which I really love. "Down and Out in Beverly Hills" with Bette Midler and Nick Nolte. I know it is an old one, but always so hilarious everytime I see it.

I have an all time favorite comedy movie that is very difficult to find and is only availble on VHS it stars Tom Behringer, Andy Griffeth, Patrick Wayne and a bunch of other people that you would recognize. It's a spoof on old western movies and if you even remotely enjoyed Blazing Saddles this is a must see.

Rustler's Rhapsody - I accidently taped it off of HBO a number of years ago when I mean't to get something else and it was one of the best mistakes that I ever made.

I recently saw "The Ring" and I thought it was worth the watch, decent plot good acting and some suprises ( I don't want to give to much away)

I will probably be watching the Gangs of New York in the Near so I will give my review of that.

What are some opinions on LOTR I'm sure 99% of the people posting here have seen it?

I personally thought that it was very well done in every regard and I have avoided re-reading the entire series until I have seen the last episode so that I don't ruin the movie for myself.

My sister(the big shot Hollywood producer) hated it but I think she just didn't like or relate to the story on any level.

My sales manager didn't like the cinematography as he was looking for something more fanciful kind of like "Legend"

It has been 30 years since I read the books and I think that made it much better for me. I am not much on re-reading anything as it sort of spoils the story for me but I think I will re-read this one after I have seen the final movie.

I'm also not much on watching a movie more than once but I have watched "Rustler's Rhapsody" probably 10 times and I now own 2 store bought copies as the original disappeared some time back.

I saw "The Core" and it was a disappointment to me on every level and I totally love that kind of story.

I actually had planned to see the Hulk but now I'm not so sure after reading your comments Aaediwen. Perhaps I'll go see the latest Matrix instead.

Did any one else see the Matrix reloaded and think that the whole Cavern/sex scene was way overdone and pointless???

The last three movies I've seen are "The Italian Job", "The Hulk" and "The Matrix Revolutions".

"The Italian Job":

The version I saw was the recent one with Mark ("Marky Mark") Wahlberg, Charlize Theron , Edward Norton, Donald Sutherland and Seth Green. The real star of the movie though was the Mini Cooper. These thieves steal a safeload of gold, but one of them double-crosses his partners.

"The Hulk":

I rented this on DVD. I had always meant to see it in the theaters. The movie was good, and I didn't mind looking at Jennifer Connelly . You can tell Marvel Comics is getting close to the bottom of the barrel, though. When I went to the movies last night (see below), I saw they're scraping the bottom now; next summer, they're coming out with "The Punisher", which has already been made into a bad movie about ten years ago with Dolph Lundgren (Drago from "Rocky IV") and Louis Gossett Jr.

"The Matrix Revolutions":

Awesome movie. The only mistake I made was paying $9.00 for a regular adult ticket to see it last night. Thank goodness I stopped at a convenience store along the way and bought a bag of peanut butter M&Ms and a Pepsi otherwise that would've set me back another $6-$7. I knew Keanu Reeves' character was going to die, I just didn't know how. That's the part that sucks about being a martyr-you have to die.

Let me add something related to Aaediwen's thoughts on "The Fast & The Furious" movies. I think that when Paul Walker was a kid, he tried an experiment by injecting some tree DNA into himself and it went straight to his acting ability.

The last two Movies is saw was;

Fellowship of the Ring" I had seen it before but sine I had just finished the book, I wanted to see it again. Even though it was a good Movie, I was very dissapointed in it. I guess the book spoiled me.

"Little Big Man" with Dustin Hoffman, Chief Dan George and Faye Dunaway. Very funny Movie.

Since all I can do is sit here with my feet elevated a client gave me a copy of Legally Blonde 2 ....well It was cute....

I really liked the dog!

I have been considering watching Legally Blonde 2, I know the first one ranged from cute to funny. The 'Reckless Abandonment' bit had me ROTFLMAO. We rented some more movies yesterday, planning to watch "Bulletproof Monk" here shortly

This is an oldie but a goodie...Patrick Swazye in Dirty Dancing! Need I say more!

......oh, that is an oldy but a goody Maggie!!

We went and saw 'Kill Bill' last week.....it was, well......different! I didn't know that the movie was split into two parts. By the time the last fight scene came and went on, and on and on....I was getting suspicious. The special effects were very good!

Can't wait for 'Return of the King'!!

I saw "Ransom" with Mel Gibson last night! That was very good and of course, being a woman, I love Mel!

I own both LOTR movies and love them and watch them all the time. I have never read the books, have them, but waiting for ROTK to come out first and then will probably read them. Don't want anything to spoil it for me when I see the final and hopefully the best of the series! Long Live King Aragorn!

I'm hoping LOTR gets the Academy Awards it so deserves this time 'round.
