We are pleased to announce that we have added the following file attachments to posts made on Celtic Radio:
  • PDF Files
  • Word Doc files
  • Text Files
  • PowerPoint Presentations
  • PNG Image files
This is the feature where you can attach a file to your post. Thanks to the member who suggested this.

The new non-graphic attachments are limited now to .doc, .pdf, .txt, and .ppt. If you have an attachment that does not work, just post the extension here and we will add to the code.

Just tried it in Internet Exploder, and works fine. Strange.

Sgt-Maj I experienced the same, my adobe reader said it encountered an error in the script and was unable to open it. How do you get IE to open it.

Mr. Skinner,

It's a little weird. In IE, I just clicked on the link, and it opened right up. I haven't used IE in forever, so it is even the old version. But, Chrome totally distorts it. I haven't tried FireFox yet.

At this point, I have no answer... unless my "ad blocker" is not allowing the PDF to properly populate the reader. I may try disabling it , and giving it a go.

Yes, it looks like it works only with IE.

Apparently there is some code in the system that converts the PDF file into some unrecognizable file in order to prevent someone from running scripts from the file. Then when you click the file it is suppose to convert it but it is only working with IE.

We will work on this the next few days. Might just remove this code for PDF files. Thanks for testing this out, we will get it right!

If PDF files and other files can not be attached to posts until we fix the issue. Once we have the fix, we will go back and fix any posts with these file extensions.

Thanks again for everyones help on this!

Try the attachments now and see if they work cross browser platform. We changed the code so it will only open those files that you have installed on your computer or browser. Should be more compatible.

Again, if you want to upload any other types of attachments. Maybe excel, publisher, adobe, etc. just post the attachment type here and we will add to the code.

Thanks again and keeping fingers crossed this works!

Again, being somewhat ignorant of file exts' and that sort of thing I guess I will have to get someone younger in here to help me decipher what's going on. I have a little knowledge, and you know what they say about that. (LOL)

By the way, thank you Sgt-Maj on the IE I did understand that.
