These are all wonderful! However, you might think about how much of Mac's begged, borrowed, and stolen bandwidth you are using. Any of you computer types know how much more bandwidth pics use? I would be glad to click a link if it keeps the forum from meltdown!
RWF, I love your drawings...but don't those poor girls ever get cold? I really like how you made the centaur's face a meld between human and equine.

Oldraven, what kind of camera is that? I really want a digital, esp since I seem to have aquired some sorta digital processing when I got this comp! Any advice? Prob will be used mostly for fun...nature type pics and family pics. I would love to be able to do the type of closeups you do. I need an idiot-friendly cam tho..

Any and every one can post here. I figure after a few weeks I will remove the current pics so we can start again. A better thought is to have a contest and aquire votes on best Pics then leave those that win on here. That might help lesson the stress.

I have also taken the liberity to shrink some of these pictures. I hope no one minds. I am just trying to be helpful.

Mac has already cut the limit on attached pics once because of bandwidth issues. I'm seeing most of these pics ranging between 1-200 KB a piece, now browsers today tend to cache such things so that they don't have to be DL'd anew and I'm sure that helps. Let's figure on some guestimates here

At the time I write this, I see a count of 289 views of this thread
approximately 26 pics that are 25-75 KB
9 that are over that, some of these up to over 300 KB

if we say that the average on the small pics is 50 KB and the average on the large pics is 150 KB, then the 26 amsll pics comes out to 1300 KB or a little over 1 MB
add to that 9 pics at 150 KB each... for approximately the same number, 1350 KB, so a little over 2.5 MB of image data being pulled from Mac's server per viewing, that comes to 722 MB of his bandwidth used just by the images on this thread. Now there are errors in these numbers, and the thread probably has not used near that. This can be attributed to cacheing, and to the fact that many of the images were not there when a lot of the hits took place. In any case, it's approacing having used enough bandwidth to have transferred a complete CD-ROM just for this thread. I rather think it would be better to put an HTML image link in the post and host the image elsewhere. I will test this for feesability in a new thread in tech support here in just a minute and see how well the forum handles it.

apparentlt they go in every so often and compress the files so everything runs smoothly, Please returnyour pics to a fairly nice size so I don't have to squint to see them.

One of these days I am going to et my photos developed. Most of my artwork was stolen, and I have had a very long bout of artist's block so I haven't been able to do much to replenish my collection.


I am working on something for barddas, (if I ever get it done. Sorry Jason)


So, as soon as I get my photos developed, I will post my latest peice that is hanging in my boss' office, and I will post some pics of the flutes my father in law made for me and my husband. his carvings are awesome. He even made a flute out of sandstone. \



BTW - I love the dragon.

RavenWing, this is the only carving I've done. I made it for my father for Christmas last year, and he hung it over the fireplace.

It's the Reeves Coat of Arms. A great excuse for buying a dremel.

Wow! All this beautiful artwork I am seeing is really inspiring me to get back on the horse and start doing artwork again. I have taken a break from it for over a year with the economy being bad and lack of sales, I got discouraged. But then we do it for the enjoyment of it, don't we? Or should!

Thank you Angel, Raven, OldRaven, and Ravenwing. And Raven, your artwork is beautiful. You have a different style than me. I could not do what you do. Love your photography, Old Raven! Photography was always my first love. Your photos are awesome.

I do carving as a hobby just so my eyes can focus on something larger than I usually work with. I tend to use hand tools for the most part but will end up using a power tool for final clean up. I am building a lap dulcimer right now but have hit a bit of a block. I'm trying to figure out what I will carve into it. When and if it is ever finished, I will post pictures. I have had a set of deer antlers hanging in my workshop for years now which I have been planning on doing a mixture of carving and metal (silver and/or gold) fittings but again, the mood has to hit.

Here is the second carving that I did. I decided to try something a bit difficult as a measurement of whether or not I should keep my day job or if there was some hope for me.

Keltic -- absolutely beautiful! I asked this before on another thread, but do you do jewelry too? I would like to see that posted too, if I may be so bold as to suggest that since I am new here.

Keltic if you haven't already I think you can scratch the day job. That is great work.
desertrose... Did you have subjects? Either way... your works are beautiful. I am Cherokee and Irish and am so pleased to see such beautiful works of Native Americans.

"Na Mara" is what we call it. This pattern is actually from the Book of Kells and instead of calling it "the ring with the pattern from the Book of Kells", we decided to simplify things. We have seen this design done by others and they would more than likely have a different name to identify the pattern.

We are in Canada and we do a few festivals and work over the internet.
