The Deer's Cry is a Nashville based folk band that plays and sings music
inspired by Irish, Bluegrass, Jazz and other world traditional genres. From
their website, "The Deer’s Cry is another name for the beautiful Saint Patrick’s
Breastplate prayer. The name arose from the following story: In 433 A.D., the
High King of Ireland set out to ambush Saint Patrick and his followers to
prevent them from spreading the gospel in his kingdom. It is said that Saint
Patrick and his followers approached the kingdom singing the breastplate prayer,
and by the power of the Spirit, appeared to the king and his men as only a herd
of wild deer, and so were able to pass through undetected."
