Her music career began when she was welcomed into the exclusive Irish choir http://www.anuna.ie/~Anúna, where she soon became a prominent soloist in concerts all over Europe, notably featuring on their album ‘Behind the Closed Eye’ with The Ulster Orchestra.
Deirdre was then chosen by Michael http://www.michaelflatley.com/~Flatley to be the vocal soloist in his phenomenal show Lord of the Dance. Cast as ‘Erin the Goddess’, she performed over four years extensively in the USA, South America, Canada, and Mexico to great critical acclaim. Indeed she often returns to guest with this show. In 2002 she featured as the soloist with respected Irish American pianist Eily O’Grady on her sell-out US tour, paying tribute to Eily’s late husband Frank Patterson. In the tradition of Celtic Woman, Deirdre Shannon has released her debute solo album "Deirdre Shannon" which contains 13 beautiful tracks to certainly fulfill your Celtic music collection with some of the best and brightest songs that we have heard on a debut album.
Deirdre has an unbelievable crystal clear voice that just shines through with emotion and clarity. Some of our favorite tracks are "Ae Fond Kiss", the Gaelic sung "Ardaigh Cuan" and the duet "The Prayer." Although perhaps our favorite, favorite selection was "I Know My Love" - a light hearted and fun song that will have you dancing and singing along in no time!
All in all, an excellent album that certainly shines by itself - displaying Deirdre Shannon's beautiful singing voice and alot of musical talent contained in each and every track.
