Editorial Review of Giant's Dance:

When you call your band Under The Influence Of Giants, you're expected to somehow be the sum of your roots, but this L.A. outfit defies easy categorization. As their self-titled debut album bears out, UTIOG..s funk-inflected, hook-saturated pop-soul is a combination of the Talking Heads.. African poly-rhythmic groove (..Ahha,.. ..Got Nothing....), the ethereal falsettos of Michael Jackson and Prince (..Mama..s Room..), and the blue-eyed R&B of Hall & Oates and George Michael (..In the Clouds..). Produced by former Blind Melon members Brad Smith and Christopher Thorne, the debut album from Under The Influence Of Giants is a truly captivating and refreshing blend of rock, soul, and funk, that uniquely channels the influences listed above with a distinct style and energy. The band's compelling sound coupled with their exciting live show built the band an impressive following across southern California over the past 18 months. Often igniting all out dance-parties, the band's shows are now known as an event for dance grooves, rock jams, and late nights.

Comments: This band should have worldwide acclaim!! Kevin's vocals are superb! Karen's voice and her use of the Irish Flute/tin whistle... unmatched anywhere! And Steve...well Steve is a complete and utter KING on guitar and vocals. I have had the privelage and honour to sit in with these folks on a few occassions and they are the living, breathing, PULSE of Celtic music. PLEASE play more of them on Celtic Radio!!
