Top tenor to perform at funeral

June 8, 2004 - Belfast Telegraph - IRISH tenor Ronan Tynan is to sing at the funeral ceremony of former President Ronald Reagan, it was confirmed today.

The 44-year-old Dubliner - one of the world-renowned three Irish tenors - will perform at the special service at Washington National cathedral on Friday.

Also taking part in the service will be President George Bush, Baroness Margaret Thatcher and Brian Mulroney, former prime minister of Canada, all who will be delivering eulogies.

Tynan rose to fame as one of the Irish tenors but it was his own personal story which set him apart as a star.

At the age of 20 the singer had his legs amputated below the knee following an accident.

He joined the Irish Tenors in 1998, along with Anthony Kearns and John McDermott.
