I lived in Wisconsin for 23 years, I guess that's where the upper midwest comes in. Otherwise I was born in Oklahoma, grew up in Kansas and have lived in Texas, Mississippi and Arkansas.

They missed a possible answer for water fountain, drinking fountain. In Milwaukee they call it a "bubbler".

One country, a million languages!!!

How interesting this is! Dialects are a particular area of interest for me. It is astounding what conclusions are drawn about character simply from what dialect people use.

That's funny. I was born and raised in Florida, which some people don't even consider part of the South. All four of my grandparents were raised in different states (Upper Michigan (Finnish), Florida, New York and Ohio) which gave us a lot of different dialects to grow up with.

Cute Quiz although I spend time in the South on business and after I while I told someone I was "fixin" to do something. Couldn't believe I let that slip out. The locals gave me a hard time about it. smile.gif

Born in Ohio, transplanted to Florida as a kid, and 9 years in Uncle Sam's Canoe Club must have had an effect.

Since I'm from St. Louis & I've always thought it was in the midwest, I don't know what to think of these results.
