What colour is your bee balm Maggie? Mine finally took ! Its two years old, I had planted it in a metal bucket... then planted the bucket.. its the lovliest shade of pink... What sort of coriopsis Maggie? My moonbeam comes yearly.. but the pink seems to take a year off sometimes...
I think a seed exchange would be fantastic ! For me, the very best part of gardening is sharing I love looking out at something and saying. Oh, thats from so and so's garden... and some of my relatives have givien me plants as gifts... Day lillies mostly.. I sort of have a passion for those.. I can not think of a better present!

Summer is glorious! I'm getting cherry tomatoes and picked the first green beans today. Last weekend the landlord finished fencing the yard with nice bunny-proof fence. So, what should I see this am.....you've got it. A little brown bunny! We fenced one on the INSIDE.

Pee wee thing ! turn it loose, far away from the Dump !
Ate the first Early Boys from the garden last night.. still warm from the sun.. over Rigotta , with fresh basil, drizzled with excellent olive oil... and wonderful crusty bread to sop up every drop ! Life is GOOD !
I've been getting cherry tomatoes for about 2 weeks now and just got my first slicer last night. I had it on a deliscious ground sirloin sandwich with a thin slice of onion and a touch of miracle whip. Yum

I agree with you CR! There is nothing to compare with fresh veggies out of the garden. I no longer do vetetables, but when I was growing up my Dad always had huge gardens and that's how I learned to cultivate, plant and harvest. Very good experience. I used to can veggies, but no longer. I have gotten lazy in my old age!
HI Arianrhod, the bee balm is called a Cambridge Scarlet, the flowers are a wine-red color. The coreospis, I planted two different kinds, creme brulee and moonbeam. I was very sad they didn't come up this summer.
I was going to miracle grow my flowers this evening, but alas tis raining and I am babysitting my favorite guy. He's a little blue-eyed blonde who will be a big two years old next month. I'll take care of him over my flowers any day!
My mother always had huge gardens when I grew up. Now my youngest sister is following in that tradition. I am flying back out to California in August and sis told me today that she will have some fresh Beefmaster tomatoes for us to eat when I get there! Woo hoo! I love tomatoes and avacadoes together! Yummy!
I don't currently have a garden because I'm temporarily living in Florida, but I'll be moving up North next may, and will certainly have one then. I know NOTHING about tropical gardening, and honestly, have no desire to learn anything. Is that wrong?
I'm a former Penn State Master Gardener. I've been gardening since I was about 10 or so (let's see...that's about 25 years now). I was influenced very greatly by my Grandfather, who had a hugely successful garden.
I just can't wait to garden again! It's so relaxing, and I miss it so much.
