The dethatching machine is basically like a mechanical undercoat brush for the lawn. It is a small machine( smaller than a mower) , and has 3' long X .125 thick pieces of metal that spin *very* quickly.... and then you engage the dethacher' to start spinning.. and push.

That part was easy, and only took about an hour. Then, there was the raking of the thatch...Long process!!!! This is where alll of the 'work' comes in. But, I really enjoyed it...

I did a light spread of weed and feed yesterday... As I knew it was going to rain today.. and that the rain would dilute the fetilizer.. Which is what I wanted... I will seed in two weeks.

I also raked my 'woodland' area and applied flower seeds.. everything from *more* foxglove, to moonflowers, trilliums, jack-n- the -pulpits, and a few fern root sysytems....

Should turn out nice....

it's in the 50's today with a light drizzle.... and occassional sun peaking through now and again...

It is warming up here in the Southern States. We had 70 degree's yesterday and today. My daffodils and crocus are up and blooming. I put out 20 Gerber Daiseys today and they are sooooo pretty in the light pink...

RavenWing..
Where are the containers going to be?
Full sun, partial, dappled shade??

Start with location.. colours you like, and if you would like..
I'd be happy to help you decide ...

Mostly shade. The sun never hits directly on our front porch.

In the last 2 DAYS, spring has arrived. The tree's have new blooms or green leaves on them. Spring is here, don't blink here or you'll miss it

My lace ferns are growing like crazy and my cactuses are all blooming and beautiful.

I'm sooooo jealous! I had a really nice surprise yesterday, though. The first Snowdrops are up!! The Grape Hyacinths can't be far behind, now. Spring is coming! biggrin.gif Now I'm on the lookout for the first Robins. Oh! We saw two Red-tailed Hawks circling together yesterday - beautiful!!
