For those of you who don't know, Steve Irwin, host of Animal Planet's "The Crocodile Hunter", died this weekend. He was killed by a stingray. He was 44 years old. He is survived by his wife, two children and his father.

I was suprised, but not shocked, when I heard the news.

I feel bad for him and his family, but I wasn't surprised. After watching his shows, about the only thing that surprised me wasn't a croc or poisonous snake that got him.

It was a tragic accident though. Very bad luck as well. From what I can tell had the spine hit him anywhere else he would have lived.

May those who love us love us
And those who don't love us
May God turn their hearts,
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

Did anyone watch the memorial service that Animal Planet aired? Very touching. I got a little misty-eyed, seeing his kids and knowing that they'll never see their daddy again.

I'm only seeing what's being put all over the news this morning ... oh his daughter's words were enough to bring tears to the eyes "I had the best daddy in the world" ...

oh I missed the memorial service...I wish I would have got to see it. My kids loved him and we actually just bought that movie he was in not too long ago.

I also heard bits and pieces of what his daugther said through the news station, calling him a "hero". I still liked the little sign that someone put up at the zoo where he worked calling him a "Wildlife Warrior".

I saw parts of the memorial service and it was pretty sad seeing brave daughter, Bindi, make her speech about her dad and his wife who doesn't appear to be doing very well...but what wife would? But she knew the risks, but I am sure it is still extremely painful despite it all. I feel so very badly for all them!

I loved Steve Irwin but always worried about his back plan as well. But hey. that is despite the point. We lost a really terrific animal activist in this world and I am greatly saddened.

Its still hard to accept he was SO full of life and ethusasim and love for animals as his Father said at the service the animals have lost thier best freind!!!! Bindi is the new Steve she looks like him and is fearless like him as he was.
