Quote (Gaelic Bread @ May 14 2003,1:06)
As for the tornadic activities... that's one of the big reasons why I moved to Philadelphia from Kansas. There was something about going outside after a storm, and having someone else's lawn furniture in your yard. I actually had some guys mailbox on my roof once!

That reminds me of a guy I used to work with.

First, the extreme southwest suburbs of Chicago is what we call "Tornado Valley" here in northern Illinois. For some reason, storms are more intense there than they would normally be. A former coworker of mine used to live out that way with a few of his buddies. He said that whenever there was a big storm, everyone on his block would all gather at the end of the street to see whose patio furniture was whose.

My first memorable experience with extreme storms is one that I'd really like to forget. I was about 6 or 7 at the time. We were in the Quad Cities, visiting some old friends of my dad. We were staying at the Holiday Inn in Moline. A tornado came through in the middle of the night. It scared the heck outta me. I kept waking my dad up for comfort. To this day, thunder and lightning still scare me.

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.
