Here's a game that would've been fun tonight.

Actually I did the Shrub drinking game last night...every time he said Terrorist/Terror/Terrorism/etc....got really trashed that first half hour!

as for the rest of the speech...well, hello who's he foolin...Mr. Texas Oilmoney all of a sudden wants to give up his oil fields and grow quickgrass now? like I'm gonna believe him when he says he wants to improve the environment...

Wonder if Clinton's speech writers put together his address last night.

Having watching the state of the union address, I have the following questions…

1. Do you think that Cindy Sheehan’s arrest was a violation of her rights?

2. How do you think Judge Alito would rule on Cindy Sheehan’s arrest?

3. Since our retaliation against the terrorist training camps in Afghanistan, can an-anyone tell me one good thing this president has done?

My take on your questions:

1. Yes her rights were violated. She was arrested for "potentially" causing a disturbance. That would be the same as picking any 16-30 year old male off the street corner of a large city and charging him with "potentially" being part of a murder/robbery/rape etc. We can't be going around arresting citizens for what they may "potentially" do. If that's the case we need to build more jails to hold all of us.

2. I don't think Judge Alito would have the chance to even hear Sheehan's case, because I don't think they actually charged her with anything just held her for an hour or so and sent her back home. If there was a case that he had the chance to hear I'm not sure how he would respond only because I don't know his history and I don't really have the time to look into that, much less follow his appointment hearings.

3. Nope can't tell you...besides maybe make it harder for our seniors to get affordable medication simply, forced the Health Savings Accounts onto the books but never any explaination how those work, and he spends more time on vacation than I've ever seen.

And I'm gonna add a question.
4. How long before we invade Iran??? I'm guessing maybe July. Just based on what he said last night of course.

2 things... there are such things at these addresses known as protocal, decorum.

1) ms. sheehan came in wearing an anti-war "T SHIRT". I didnt see anyone else in a "T SHIRT".

2) due to her former conduct they had "probable cause" that she would have
disrupted the address.

NO... her rights were not violated. remember her rights end where others rights (to hear the President without interuption) begin.

As an interesting aside, a Republican congressman's wife was escorted out of the gallery for wearing a t-shirt - IN SUPPORT of the troops!

Apparently, there are certain dress standards that have to be observed. I'm not saying they are necessarily right, but it doesn't seem to me that Cindy Sheehan was singled out. And I heard the Congressman comment and he was pretty ticked!

The term "probable cause" has a very specific legal definition. It's defined as reasonable grounds to believe that a crime has been committed, and that a specific indidual has commited that crime. In terms of search and seizure, PC is reasonable grounds to believe that a crime has been committed and that evidence of that crime will be found in a specific place or on a specific person. Regarding Ms. Sheehan, it's possible (I don't know for sure) that the State of the Union address is an invitation-only affair. If so, and if she did not possess an invitation, then her very presence would provide reasonable grounds to believe that she was tresspassing and her presence alone would be sufficient reason to believe that she committed that crime.

Yeah, I know it seems overly technical, right up until the moment it happens to be you the cops want to haul away.

As far as I know there is no dress code, and Cindy Sheehan did have an invitation.
Her T shirt only had the number of US troops killed in this war printed on it, along with the question asking how many more will be killed.

This morning I heard that the police have dropped the charger against Mrs. Sheehan, and have apologized, all which leads me to believe that they were out of line in the first place. In fact I just learned that she was well within her rights to wear that T shirt.

As to my third question, which was: can anyone name one good thing this president has done since our retaliation against the terrorist camps in Afghanistan, I haven’ seen many, if any responses to that question.

If you haven’t already guessed which way I lean. I believe that if the truth were to be told, it wouldn't have been Cindy Sheehan who was led away in handcuffs, and if we all had a drink for every questionable truth that was said in that State of the Union Address, we would all be dead of alcohol poising.

"There is a difference between responsible criticism that aims for success and defeatism that refuses to acknowledge anything but failure. Hindsight alone is not wisdom and second-guessing is not a strategy"- George W. Bush

As fare as Gorge Bush’s quote above, I’ll let my credo speak to that, that is, while I still have the right to speak, and as to hindsight and second-guessing. Aren’t we supposed to learn by studying history, which by the way doesn’t get much financing in the no child left behind debacle.

The Capitol Police arrested Sheehan and charged her with demonstrating in the Capitol building. She wore a shirt, which she had covered up until she got to the gallery, that had an anti-war slogan on it. Police warned her that wasn't allowed...but Sheehan didn't respond. She could have taken off the shirt. But that's not what she wanted...she wanted to be arrested, and she was. Off she went to the police station.

Rules dealing mainly with what people can bring and telling them to refrain from reading, writing, smoking, eating, drinking, applauding or taking photographs are outlined on the back of gallery passes given to tourists every day. However, State of the Union guests don’t receive any guidelines, according to Deputy House Sergeant at Arms Kerri Hanley. “You would assume that if you were coming to an event like the State of the Union address you would be dressed in appropriate attire,” she said.

“The officers made a good faith, but mistaken effort to enforce an old unwritten interpretation of the prohibitions about demonstrating in the Capitol,” Capitol Police Chief Terrance Gainer said in a statement late Wednesday. This had absolutely nothing to do with Bush nor his administration - this was all the work of the Capitol Police, and I haven't heard anyone saying anything negative about these cops.

"She [Sheehan] was asked to cover it up. She did not," said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, U.S. Capitol Police spokeswoman. This was all pre-planned and well-executed by the Moonbats. And it worked: more people discussed the Ditch Witch more than they did any substance of the speech. Michael Moore is jealous.

When Cindy Sheehan was hustled out of the House gallery on Tuesday night, the Capitol Police sent a message: there will be no disrupting the president's speech. When they ejected a Republican congressman's wife for wearing a T-shirt supporting the troops, the same message was sent. This is not a political protest event. Everybody has to be respectful. No attention-getting cheerleading allowed. No signs in the gallery. Finally, somebody put their foot down on civility.

If you missed Obama’s speech today, or don’t make an effort to hear it. You would have missed the point of what America is suppose to be.
Ok, so maybe it was no “I have a dream speech”, but it was pretty darn close. Hey, did I just say darn?
I have already posted the above statement on another thread called: Who should be the nest president. But unlike there, if you should respond to it, please quote me when you do, so that others may get the message, and understand your response to it, (whether you agree with my opinion or not).

HOW TO SET OUR GAS PRICES…

This idea was sent to me by a friend, and if we act on it, I think it could actually work.

>> I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer,

>> wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas.
>> It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a

>> By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is

>> I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much

JC, Sorry but thats not how it works. Even if every driver in the US stopped buying gas from Mobil Exxon , the gas would still be sold by the other stations. Gas is based on a regional breakdown from the refineries to the individual gas stations. All the same gas is pretty much from several refineries, goes into a big pipe, distributes to regions and then locally mixed to the prescription of the regional distributers whether they be Mobil, Shell etc. There are exceptions to this distribution mode, but there isn't a possibility of a price war based on the gas distribution model. Until we curb our appetite for gas the prices will climb, regardless of the consumers outrage to prices. Remember China and India are also adding geometrically to the global demand on the supply chain. Supply and demand. Oil resources are getting less and more expensive, demand continues to climb, infrastructure to refine remains stagnant, Oil is not the future to be banking on unless you want to invest for the short term in Mobil Exxon stock. Remember also that the vast majority of the globe pays significantly more for their gas than we do. Plus we can't even get a million people to do anything never mind 300 million. Sorry for my negativety, we are better off thinking of alternate sources to energy and not just the scams that we funded with the Alternate Energy Tax Credits, like adding kerosene to coal and giving them tax credits for "Alternate Fuel" . I'm talking real change in mentality, like solar, wind, water, wave even nuclear. And enough of this ethanol stuff, it just drives prices up in other places such as foods, textiles, chemicals etc, just another large conglomerate of the food supply industry trying to make a buck off of the internal combustion engine.

Alright enough out of me.
