I've been wanting to dress up in Harry Potter style for Halloween the past couple of years but haven't been able to find a costume outside of a kid's. LOL I've debated getting the outfit made myself but am not sure where to start. Where/how did you get your costumes?

My daughter and I are big fans of the books and the movies too, and eagerly await the arrival of our copy of the new book this week. We've ordered a copy from Amazon.co.uk and may have to wait an extra day or so, but to have the UK Edition is worth it! (I confess I ordered a hardback of the very first book too, just to have one with the UK title: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone! And there was listed a translation in Irish of the book, too, oooh that would be fun to own as well even though I can't read a word of Irish!!)

And in another year, the first volume will be out in Scots gaidhlig. biggrin.gif

I'm an admin on a Harry Potter discussion site, and we are getting battened down for the deluge right now. We have a nice mix of age groups, and the discussion tends to be more thoughtful and a little less "fan-golly-gee" than some other sites. But fun.

Come on over and see! (They call me aramantha over there. biggrin.gif )

I have been a fan of the Harry Potter series from book 3 when my mom talked me into reading them. Since then I've read the entire series each time a new book comes out. I've allready reread in preparation for Book 6. I have to say, I like each book more than the last. I especially liked the frustration and challenges Harry faced in Order of the Phoenix. I have high hopes for this nextt one, and the fourth movie as well. The preview I've sene so far doesn't show much, but I'm still excited.

I think I'll start just watching the movies when book 7 comes out. It takes forever to get through those books.

I love the books and movie series alike. Though I have to admit that I avoid the markets (B&, Joseph Beth's, Wal Mart) for the first week after the release. It's a literal madhouse! Kids throwing punches, mom's hurdling shopping carts, babies projectile-vomiting pea soup...it's insane!

I loved the last movie because it was so much darker than the first two Chris Columbus crap-fests, which why they were pretty cool, stank of Chris Columbus's skewed view of the world.

I think they should have nabbed the director of "Prisoner of Azkaban" for the first two, he was much better. smile.gif

^cheers.gif I agree with you on the third movie. Not only was it darker, but it just felt...I don't know...more tangible I suppose. That's not a very good descriptor, but its what I came up with. I thought the first two were alright, since they were less dark storylines anyway. The new one will probably feel more like an action movie with the coverage of the Tri-Wizard cup. The fifth movie though, that one will be a dark one alright. The kiddies will enjoy that one.

If you try to find a costume all you could possibly find is for kids.In this kind of situation I say thank you to my sister who push me learning sewing.I could made my own costume.I didn't put a picture of the complete outfit but I have a partial version which can be see on the site of my sister.

You can see my site at this adress

I start hating geocities , I have so many pic to put and my space is mostly ending and I haven't a programm to reduce my pictures properly.

I love the HP books. My MIL buys them for our oldest son, who also likes to read tem, bu I usually get through it before he does. I also will read it aloud to our youngest boy Wally (he of the broken arms, which are fine now, by the way), usually at night, but it just depends on when everyone settles down and dinner is done (At 9 pm, lol) I have even stood in the kitchen next to the stove reading it to him a time or two lol!

I love Harry and I think that if it were real, lol, I'd so want to live at Hogwarts'!!!!

Lol

I'm about a third of the way through "The Half-Blood Prince" and must admit I'm having a blast reading it!! I'd ordered myself a copy of the 'adult edition' from Amazon.co.uk (not that I admit to being an adult often) and my daughter was disappointed to see it doesn't have those cool illustrations at the beginning of the chapters, and doesn't have the same book cover either.
So she bought herself the stateside Scholastic publcation, complete with drawings and nifty cover. We're currently reading the book at the same time, and going "Oohhh!" and "Oh NO!" at about the same time. What fun!

This is a good read.

I wonder if Snape really is a baddie then?..........

Well, I had to resurrect this topic. We are days away from the release of the final Harry Potter movie.

My son is so into Harry that he got glasses that are shaped just like Harry's. He loves to dress up in a cape with a magic wand too.

I am going to sit back and wait for the movie to come out on DVD.

I'm sure I'll go see it in the theaters. Some movies need to be seen on the big screen. I might even try to see it at an IMax.

The closest IMAX to me is 50 miles away. My husband is currently on second shift so he will have the car. So, my chances of seeing it at an IMAX are nil. sad.gif

I really wish that I could get to see it there.
