biggrin.gif Greetings to the Scottish diaspora from Team Liddell et al biggrin.gif

We are those who have surnames derived from the ancient Scot borderland of Liddesdale in the center of the English-Scot border. The most common forms of our surnames are: Liddell, Liddle, Lidell, Lydell, Lidel, Lytlle and so forth for a total of nearly 90 !! Quite a lot from so few letters, you know--but that's the way we Scots have always been! Frugal, even in the counting-out of the letters we use in our names.

The Team specializes in genealogy--both traditional (documentation) and in the excitingly new genealogy genetics. See us at play at JustUsCousins www.geocities.com/JustUsCousins and at serious study at Team Liddell et al DNA/mtDNA Study www.geocities.com/TeamLiddellDNA.

We are the world's first genealogy genetics group to enroll in the exciting National Geographic "Origins of Mankind" five-year study and also one of the most thoroughly tested groups using FamilyTreeDNA as a professional genetics lab service. We are where it's at in this new science. Ask us for advice on how to set up your own study if you are not one of us. We'll be glad to help.

Our genetics study has already shown that two of the Liddell lines are descended from the Roman Army during its 400 year stay on Hadrian's Wall, and has further showed that we are among the first Liddesdalers to move into the towns and cities of Scotland after the great Climate Change of the late AD1300s. Some of us can trace back to Robert the Bruce, still others to William the Conqueror, and we were in the midst of all the battles and tulmult of borderland Scotland for 2000 years.

Today, our private archives contain over 100 meg of files of all types and we are about to boost that to over two gigabytes because a series of academcally important donations of never-before released original documents.

We are living history and you very well may be also.

Today, Team Liddell et al has members on four continents and in 14 nations. We are growing rapidly and fulfilling our members needs for genealogy training, genealogy materials and for just loving kinships.

If your surname appears to be derived from Liddesdale and your ancestors come from Scotland, northern England or Northern Ireland, or if you just suspect them to come from there, contact us for membership by writing [email protected] and telling us about yourself. We have no dues, no assessments, no professional genealogists are allowed to work inside the team to build their client base, and everything is free. Your privacy and security is absolutely guaranteed.

Come sit by our hearth a spell and share a bowl of good Scot porridge. Tasty, mon!
