We just got our annuals planted today. This year we planted impatiens and begonias.

Also, our hostas and peonies are doing really well.

Peas and Beans are up and doing well. I planted lots of seeds in the greenhouse six weeks ago and they are doing fine! They go out next weekend...barring any one last snow!

Still have a lot of work to do to get everything the way I would like it. Many of the plants that I bought a few weeks ago and still in their original containers. sad.gif Fortunately, they are still looking good. I plan on spending quite a bit of time on the flowers this week. Haven't decided if I will plant any veggies this year. smile.gif

All of the plants,in the new flower bed that didn't die after planting, are doing well. Just got all of the mulch down. It will only be 1/3 full this year. Give me a few years and hopefully my imagination will come true.

Well,

Everything here in Miami is GREEN! 2 weeks ago it was all brown but with the start of the rainy season along with the hurricane season it's been raining and sunny every day. The day lilys from my great grandmothers home in NC are beautiful. Some flower stalks 3 feet high and every color imaginable. The orchids are doing great as well they love this hot humid weather. I really enjoy spring and early summer. All the regs start showing up.

I left for a vacation for about a week recently. Before that my garden had been doing very well and I had several rows of transplants. When I got back, i found all my squash transplants had dissapeared and there were large nibbles on all my beans and peas. to top it all off i also found out my bike had been stolen. all this within an hour! What a night. crybaby.gif

tomatoes: small and thick-skinned
Banana and habanero peppers: plentiful. Banana peppers sweet; Habaneros not very hot unless you include the seeds.

Not very hot. . . these the same habaneros I know? Scotch bonnets, like?

But it's great to grow chilis. They are the most fascinating blend of male and female elements, to watch them grow. I've got Tsientsin chilis on the windowsill coming up (planted with moon waxing in Cancer -- hey, it seems to work) -- that's hot enough for me, and I use them to make salsa. They were on the fire escape, but I have a squirrel who can't resist them even though he screams like he's being burned at the stake every time he steals one.

I have lots of plants in my vegetable garden but nothing producing yet. It was to cold to get them out early. Hopefully that means that it will be warm for longer and I can have a longer season!

I have a question for those of you in the know... I have a very invasive weed in my garden that we call 'bind weed'. I don't know it's technical name but it winds around my plants and has 'runners' similar to a strawberry plant. If anyone knows what this is can you tell me how to get rid of it? I grows very quickly and can take over a garden in mere days. I'm looking for something that I can perhaps put in the soil in the fall that won't remain to hurt my plants in the spring but will reduce or remove those weeds entirely. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
