::viking I did it! I bought a tape set of "Clicker Training Your Colt". I was getting tired of waiting for Kelly to train Thea to train Fudge. Now that Kelly is due to have her baby in Feb, she will have even less time to do it. Thea and I watched the tapes and the lady is so through in her method that even I could do it. ::hehe  Thea says she wouldn't mind having kids if she could clicker train them.  ::funny

:D  Well I just thought I would give every one the news on what my favorite horse did.
On April 13, Moca Fudge gave birth to a chestnut, white, blanketed, POA colt. He is very cute and Gwenny is ticked to pieces with him. It looks as if his name is going to be Spirit, because her grandpa suggested it. oooo how original.

Cabbagehome, was you there when the colt was born?  Usually you wait and wait on one and when your not there, that is when it happens.  I know when Maggie had her filly in August of 2001, we set up camp around the barn about 2 weeks before she foaled and waited and waited and waited some more and the night we wasn't there that is when she had her. I did get to see her nurse for her first time and walk on those wobbly legs. That is something to see!

No inspite of the watching we did, Moca pulled it off with out any of us.  We just happened to see him in the field on our way to church.  It seems as Spirit is going to stick as his name, we'll just have to add someting with it. Since he has a blanket pattern, what is called color, he will be regesterable, and shown in POA shows.  As soon as the camera gets back from the repair shop, I'll post pictures.

Wow, I am so jealous!!! I have never owned my own horse, although for about 4 years I got to take care of six clydesdales.
jake and rocky
colonel and sandy
flame and fly

My grandpa worked at a park set back in the old west time. (little house on the prairie kind of thing) and he and a man named Cal, were in charge of these horses and a few other animals. (a pig named bubbles that had a bad attitude wink.gif )
Anyway, I was only 13 the first time I got to help. I went to work everyday for the whole month I was there. I helped to clean stables and brush the horses, everything. The scariest moment was brushing one of them. No one had told me flame had a nick on his neck and I was brushing him with a wire brush, he let me know in a hurry. There I was about 14 years old with my shoulder in a horses mouth. I think I stopped breathing for a minute. But I remember petting him and he let go. I do know I went across the road to the old farm house and 'Billy' gave me cookies and fresh milk. That lady saw it all, she told me she never saw a person go so white. rolleyes.gif Also, I was allowed to walk them alone from one end of the 'town' to the other. I think the horses knew more than people figured. None of them bolted or acted up for me. Not even when the train went by. Thank good ness, I would of been a dust trail . tongue.gif

But, I love them still. three of them have since passed, but to this day they remain my fave horses. I learned alot from them.

oh wow, clydesdales are so gorgeous =)
Got a friend in Germany who breeds Shire's and they intend to drive over to Scotland to see if they can get their hands on a Clydesdale...

I had to leave my own Lizzy in Germany, but my mom is taking good care of her.. as soon as I have my own hoose with decent land around it though I will get her here =)

Helping with the six of them was one of the best times I have ever had in my life. I think the only thing that could top it would be moving to Scotland. cool.gif

Horses were just a part of life when I was growing up on a working cattle ranch in Idaho. I started riding about the time I could walk. As a youngster I was give my own horse to care for and train, an Appalosa stallion named ACE. We were best buddies. inlove.gif When I had to move into town for high school, he moved into a pasture at the house. When I went away to college, I had to leave him behind. sad.gif
Even then he was part of my life: His stud fees paid for most of my college expenses. My mother used to complain that she was his maddam, arrainging "dates" for him.
