From what I can see, it looks like a nice tartan, Celtica.

I only have two kilts left. The kilt that I got married is the 'Dress MacPherson' tartan and I have another kilt in the Nova Scotia tartan which is a 'must' for everybody's wardrobe. There is even a pipe band in the United Kingdom outfitted in the Nova Scotia tartan. I have a smaller kilt that my brother used to wear as well, which is in the 'Royal Stewart' tartan. I used to have three other kilts, one was the 'Ancient Campbell of Argyll' tartan, the second was 'Dress Campbell' and finally the 'Ogilvy' tartan. The last three kilts were pipe band kilts which were turned in when I stopped playing with the bands.

According to what I've found, the Creich clan was a sept of clan MacDuff, and wore the MacDuff tartan. As such, if/when I get a kilt, this will probably be the tartan to use. However, isn't there something about what gives one the right to use a perticulat tartan?

There are no rules. You can wear whatever tartan you choose.

* There may be a few that are restricted, but you woudn't be able to buy them, more than likely, so there is no need to worry.

Mine is Stewart-abute. If I ever buy a second one it would be the American tartan.

I started out in Modern Ferguson, then moved to Dress McLeod (our group's tartan when I was younger), then into the Mclaren (our pipe band's tartan), then into Dress Lamont (my dance group's tartan now). My daughter danced in the Dance Ferguson (check it out at Highland X-press). She outgrew it..sniff sniff.

I own three Kilts my two favorites are not my clan tartan:

Fort William Tartan (District Tartan) - most favorite

Hunting Stewart, though claimed by the Stewarts it is also considered a District Tartan as well in Scotland. Was worn by the Royal Scots Regiment and is still worn by the Canadian Scottish Regiment - my second favorite

Lord of the Isles Hunting Tartan (one of the many Clan Donald tartans) is my third kilt.

Elheran

I only have a $40 kilt from museum replicas right now. When people ask I just say clan MacCheap. But my question is this. If one is abl;e to wear several different tartans (cause I have 3-4 I could choose from) should one go with the newest or oldest.
Either way my Italian half is still saving up my pennies for this
