Just dropped here to $3.72 it will probably jump up 10 cents tomorrow.
Patch I have noticed the higher food prices. But as far as the economy goes we are still booming out here.
Camac, I can't imagine $7.00 a gallon. Wow, that would be really bad.
I sure wish I would of bought a Prius instead of a Camry a few years back..still kicking myself...
I live in the "Rust Belt". Our industry is mostly auto supply related. What hasn't moved to Mexico is presently downsizing. A factory that made ladies designer handbags just lost their contract to a Chinese firm. Our local dining establishments used to be crowded and I had to go early to get my regular table. Today I can sit where I want anytime and I am greeted like a long lost friend. Three have restaurants have closed. The entire area is wasting away. I have a friend who's wife is the book keeper for a local charity. She told me the other day that their food pantry is not able to keep up with the demand, and their usual sources are not able to adequately supply them. A friend at Human Services said a month ago that applications for food assistance cards are increasing astronomically. I guess the quote "one man's recession is another's depression" has some merit.
Very well said Patch. I saw some guys today hot roding their big brand new trucks and I thought now that's really doing something to help the gas prices. I have noticed more motorcycles and mo-peds bikes which is great until it snows. I have a half tank and was going to fill up but may be I will wait til Tuesday after the holiday and see what happens. It's a gamble for sure. So sad.
bought some gas on Sat. and paid $3.93. Went by there today and it had dropped to 3.91. There are a couple of gas stations closer to I-75 that are charging $4.05 and higher.
