As many of you know, our broadcast license fees are up for renewal very soon. Here in the United States we need to insure that our broadcast is in compliance with the Internet Broadcasting Regulations. While very expensive, our broadcasting partner - Live365 - allows us to pay a yearly fee that covers all royalty payments, ASCAP, BMI and SESCA licenses.
Greg McPherson, of Keltic Nations, has stepped forward with a very generous offer to help us raise these license fees. We will be holding a special contest for the following product of Keltic Nations:
1 sterling silver ring with 14k gold raised borders. The 14k gold raised borders can be in, either white, yellow or red gold. Value of $250 to $275 Canadian (approximately $200 to $225 US). Shipping will be included to any destination in the world. There will be a choice between one of four rings:
We will announce the winner of this beautiful Celtic ring on St. Patrick?s Day 2005. To be eligible for this special contest, all you need to do is donate at least $5(U.S.) to CelticRadio.net anytime between now and St. Patrick?s Day.
From the Keltic Nations website: ?We are a family owned and operated business located in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. As you work your way around our site, you will see some of the finest Celtic jewelry including handmade Celtic wedding bands, original artwork by North American artists, hand-crafted acoustic instruments and more.?
Sounds great! As soon as I can get it out to you, count me in.

I just wanted to mention this because I received an email from a fellow concerned webcaster about contests in general. I think we are fine for this contest because we are not a "for profit" website. Sometimes websites can run into problems having contests that require a payment or donation to be part of. Of course, we have worked very hard at making our broadcast and website a legal entity.
I think the best way to handle this is to disclose the purpose of the contest and current financial information:
Right now we are looking at renewing both our broadband and modem streams. The total price is $839. This is a yearly fee. We also incur about $151 a month in expenses as follows:
So thats about $2,651 a year in basic charges. This does not even include costs for broken hardware, software we need, upgrades, broadcast trailers, etc. which could easily amount to another $1,500 a year if not more.
As of right now, this what we have available for the license fee:
$839 Cost to Renew: -300 current donations and fees in account -200 estimate live365 credit -65 google adclicks
So we hope to raise an additional $274 from this contest. Anything made over this amount will be used for our monthly expenses. At the end of the contest I will report the total raised.
Mac, I wanted to send you $5 for the contest and I was going to buy a shirt. Do you need two seperate checks or can I send one with the grand total?
And sort on the same topic; the shirt I want to buy is for a friend. She is a Campbell and I was wondering if I could look at the clan badge so I know what color shirt I want to pick?
