MacAibhistin, I am in Port Moody, B.C. which is a suburb of Vancouver. I have never been to NS, but hope to make it there in the not too distant future.

I'll start out with my 3 daughters:
Jennifer which is Welsh and means white wave, white spirit, white cheeked
Elizabeth which is Hebrew and means consecrated to God
Susan which is Hebrew and means lily

2 granddaughters:
Cassandra which is Greek and means prophet of doom
Kali which is Sanskrit and means energy, dark goddess

Grandson:
Sean which is Celtic and means God's grace.

It's always interesting to know what a name means! I have enjoyed reading all the names here and the meaning of each one.

Well Adam is Hebrew and it means: created by God, red earth

Clark means: Clerk, a clergyman, a scholar, one who can read and write

But it doesn't give me the origin of the last name, sorry.

I have a book that gave me a Clark as a surname. Very similar to the first name though. It says "clerk" for the first name and "scholar" or "full of wisdom" for a surname.

COOL! cool.gif

It seems that nobody has posted her in a year! but, non the less, I'll add my kid's names to the list..

Victoria-(English, Spanish, Romanian, & Ancient Roman) Meaning:a feminine form of victorious, this name was borne by a long-reigning queen of england. A Canadian city bears this name in her honor, as well as an Australian state and several other geographic areas. Victoria- Roman Mythology, "Victory" Latin. Victoria was the Roman Goddess of Victory! (Whew, that's a long one)

Ashley-(Old English)From a surname which was originally derived from a place name which meant "ash tree clearing" (This is also a boy's name in England, or so I've been told)

Brendan-(Irish or English) "Prince" from the Irish name Breanainn. St. Brendan was a 6 th-century Irish Abbot. According to legend he and 17 other monks crossed the Atlantic and reached North America. (Branden is another variant of Brendan)

This is fun..I hope it continues..

Ayelish is an awesome Celtic name too, meaning Elizabeth, right? does anyone know for sure?

It seems as though I haven't posted here yet. smile.gif

We're about 12 weeks shy of any kids, so I can only give you hypothetical names.

Depending on boy or girl, these are the names we have picked out for our up and coming family member. smile.gif

Labban Adam Reeves. Labban (LAY-bun) is the main character of a book I started writing when I was 14. It was my first try, and is the piece that made me realise that writing is what I want to do with my life. Adam is my name, so you can understand why I chose that. It means Earth, Man, or The Man. laugh.gif

Coira Aidan Reeves. Coira (COY-rah) means Seething Pool, and even though Aidan is usually a boys name, we've always liked it, and have found it to be a girls' name as well. It means Little Fiery One. biggrin.gif

I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."
