In my last trip to bretagne, I discovered that there's a typical song from there, which I'm trying to find. What I know about it is that is very common to dance it in a circle, boy and girl alternative, taking the people by you with your thumbs using you own thumbs. thumbs_up.gif thumbs_up.gif

I know that Carlos Núñez plays it, but only in concerts, so I can not manage to find. I'll like to learn to play, as I renember that It sounded very good.

And I can not play any music from britanny! (That will end for sure when somebody gives me a hand with my bombarde!!)

I'm gonna try to find that...won't be easy without more elements. The dance you saw was a traditional one called "laridé". There are many melodies of laridé in Britanny. Is it the title of the song that looked like l'angu ? unsure.gif I think it's l'Ankou, He's a character from Breton legends about death...

Try to find some partitions of bombarde too, but it won't help you to breath in it... tongue.gif (I'm joking, but I know it's very hard wink.gif )

See you

Thanks about the information about Laridé. Now that you mention the name, I think I've seen it in several songs!

Thanks ! biggrin.gif

I tryed to find L'Ankou everywhere, but I can not manage :-(.

I finded some songs containing that word, but they aren't what I'm looking for... :-(.

There aren't any song called just "L'Ankou"? Who's performing it if so?

Thanks for your knowledge about bretagne Celtica! biggrin.gif

I found a tune called Laride and as I remember it is a circle dance.

The sleeve notes say:- Le theme du tuilleur de pierre est souvant present dans les chansons en breton on gallo, les paroles de cette chanson sont assez "recherches"

As my breton is non existant I'll have to wait for celtica to translate

It's a trad tune, the copy I've got is by a group called 'Avel Dro'

I'm afraid I didn't find this song called "Ankou" either... sad.gif . But you know I'm not a specialist in traditionnal music so maybe I could ask on sites dedicaded to breton music if anybody knows it.

I found some free partitions of bombarde, take a deep breath and go, you'll get it, I'm sure smile.gif

http://breizhpartitions.free.fr/en/p_bomba...age=1&recherche[instru]=bombarde

Zephyr, I can translate the sleeve note for you, but I'm not sure it will help laugh.gif :

"the stone-cutter's theme is often present in breton or gallo's* songs. The lyrics of this song are very mannered."

*this adjective describes a part of brittany where breton is not spoken, it's the name of another vernacular language.

If I can have some advices on breton forums about this song I'll tell you smile.gif

Thanks a lot! I hope I can make my bombarde works... I never thought it will be so hard to get a sound of it. I really, can't make any sound. and I do blow really really strong!

I thinkt the mouthpiece is broken...

Thanks for you effort about L'ankou too. Maybe that's not the true tittle of the song. I found one song with a title in galician which sounds similiar, and has a Laride Rithm.

By the way... That wasn't breton at all! It was just french!!

Yes fortunately, cause I don't speak a word of Breton ! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif (But I would like to learn).

I'm sure you'll succeed in bombarde, I know it's very hard, even for professionnal but to be sure maybe you should try with another one, just in case it's broken... smile.gif

Have you contacted Carlos Nunez to see if he knows which song you are wanting to find? If he plays it, he must know what it is called...
