Thanks Rose, but I've tried this site three times and nothing happens. I don't know if my dial-up is too slow or my computer is too old and slow or what. I select a photo to re-size, pick a size, click "wait" and I wait...
...and I wait...
...and I wait, till...
...nothing happens.

So, thanks, but I am still trying to find a way to resize them.

jp, I use www.photobucket.com upload my picture then edit then pick what size I want it. You might give that a try if you can't get it to work I can try for you.. I had troubles with that re-size site yesterday it wouldn't load it either. Your pictures may be over the size amount allowed. I don't know it sure would be nice if there was a simple way. Let me know jp...

Here is the answer. Mac had this link for re-sizing photos...

http://www.rideau-info.com/photos/changesize.html

And it works! I was finally able to post a couple of pics in my gallery.

Rose, I love the photo of your pup. It is a great capture of personality. As art photography, the only issues I see are the use of a flash and background clutter. It may sound silly, but setting up the photo so it has a neutral background (or highly out of focus) makes a big difference. The same photo on an unobstructed hardwood floor or green lawn would keep people's eyes away from the room and on the subject.

As for the flash, I think they only have a use when taking pictures for posterity. Candid moments and future memories. Asthetically, flash photography has an unnatural feel to it. The softness is gone, and objects gain sharp edges. As everyone says over and over, a pod (mono or tri) and a larger aperature will allow you to take relatively low light pictures without a flash, allowing you to capture the natural light that translates so well.

Don't be discouraged. We all have things to learn, and it's the love of the art, not the recognition, that keeps us clicking. wink.gif

I have tons to learn and appreciate all the help I can get! Hugs!

I also looked at a monopod...wow! Was that ever heavy for me. Not sure if I should get one or not. I do have a really nice tripod though. wink.gif

Edit: sorry it took so long for me to reply but I am soooooooooooo behind in my emails! Many thanks again!

Hey Patch! I did all the artwork (colored pencils and oils) as well. I had so many people wanting to see my artwork that I included it in my photo gallery. Guess I should be more specific about that in there.

Thanks!

Rindy and JP, thanks for your kind comments. smile.gif

You should look into organizing a show. You might be suprised what people would offer for your work. Be sure to copyright your pictures and sign your work. The South West would be great for your art work and photograpsh sell everywhere. With "people pictures" you need releases. All of the above is easy to accomplish

Nice pics Rose!

If you don't mind me asking, what denomination is that old church?

They are good. You've got the eye, which isn't surprising seeing how good your pencil work is. I'm very taken with the fish lady -- it seems like such an ordinary, workaday picture, but she has a wonderful face! (That fresh filet looks mighty good to me too . . . smile.gif ) The fresh pink rose is lovely too, especially the contrast of texture with the serrated green leaf.
