With the Leafs now out of the playoffs, I have resorted to cheering to the last Canadian team still in the playoffs, the Calgary Flames. Though they can never replace the Leafs in my eyes, I still find it impressive how a team with no really big names or super-stars can make it so far in the playoffs using just strong team work and dedication. Hopefully this is an indicator of the future of the NHL!

It's always sad to see how badly poor refs can skew a game, and it's even worse when the best team looses based on poor calls rather than skills. Hopefully this will be cleared up soon!

I was just glad that there were no young children around me last night. They would've learned a few new words. I didn't even have anything to drink. You know how alcohol tends to loosen the tongue. That's how mad I was at the refs. My throat is still sore from last night.

There could be a local access cable show of a guy using the facilities and it'd get higher ratings than hockey here in the US.

One city I know is really hockey crazy in the states is Detroit. They love their Red Wings. Even tho we moved from Michigan 12 years ago, we still keep an eye out for them. Had season tickets one year when our kids were still at home and we all enjoyed it immensely.

Well, peckery, I was born in Canada so I guess I really have no first hand answer to your question. I was only a child when we moved to the states and dear ol dad was a faithful fan of the sport. Lately I must admit that I mostly watch it when my dad is visiting. However, I need to keep track of the Red Wings throughout the season so I can talk about them with him. My sister and brother, who still live in Michigan are
big big Red Wings fans.

ARGH!!!

I just checked the score. Well, we'll see how it goes in Tampa.

I saw the first period, and a quarter of the second at the Atlantic Trap n' Gill with Ange. But we left to go catch a movie. And what a mistake that was. Van Helsing. Did any of you see that? I missed the thread on it, but I got nothing out of it.

Must have been some game though. Double overtime, for the missed clincher! Calgary can't afford to miss this. It's been 15 years, and I don't think they'll recover if they get this close and get sent home.

Game 7 of a championship series is always exciting. I remember when the Chicago Wolves (the minor league hockey team I root for) won their first championship. That series went the distance. Knowing that there was no tomorrow, we all had a nervous excitement vibe going.

You went to see a movie?? That wasn't very Canadian of you!! Only in Canada will you see the national police force (The Royal Canadian Mounted Police) guarding the Stanley Cup. There were more R.C.M.P. officers around the cup than there are in the Prime Ministers security detail!!

Anyways, it was a great game last night and game 7 is going to be better.

Trust me Keltic, I'm well aware that it was the poor choice. sad.gif It would have been one hell of a game, and I was at the PUB! The Trap n' Gill, to boot. The only Maritimer pub in Edmonton, which is stock full of Newfs every night.

Yeah, I should have parked my arse.

I'm probably gonna stay home and watch the game on TV.

IMHO, hockey is not a TV or radio-friendly sport. The best way to view a hockey game is live at the arena. In person, it looks like they're going 100 miles per hour. On TV, about one-tenth that speed.

Tampa's leading 2-0 going into the third period. My fingers are crossed that the Flames are going to come from behind.
