Washington Post didn't give the movie very good reviews...it's a shame. I haven't been to see it but everytime a movie gets poor reviews I tend to like it...go figure.

I've been to the theaters last weekend and saw the movie...it was worth it, really! Besides of Hugh Jackman as van Helsing I loved "Dracula"...as it was already said before : He was a blast!!

I went to the local theater to see "Van Helsing" today. I went to the matinee. I was suprised to see Faramir from LOTR as Hugh Jackman's sidekick. It was nice that writer/director Stephen Sommers gave Frankenstein's Monster a personality, and did not make him a mindless brute.

Saw "Van Helsing" this past weekend. Good flick! Stunning animation. The monsters all looked so real. The fight scene at the end was amazing. Kate Beckinsale was HOT! I agree with what someone said about solving the mystery surrounding Van Helsing. I definitely got the sense he was very ancient. He made mention of remembering something about battling Roman legions. The whole "left hand of God" reference was puzzling/mysterious. That's the only beef I have, though. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

That just leaves it open for a sequel..... wink.gif

That was my favorite part of the film. It made you think about what was going on his head.
It made me think of the Boris Karloff version, and how that could have been a film to do ...from Frankenstiens eyes.... It was touched upon...but not to that extent......

I thought of that, too. It would be interesting to see what kind of bad boy monster they could go after that would be worse than Dracula. It would have to be as bad or worse for a sequel. Not sure if it's doing well enough at the box office for a sequel, though. Its initial receipts were good, but it's tapering off quickly.

Oh, yeah. He played a funny character. I didn't recognize him. Look for the friar that tags along with Van Helsing.
