Mikel also known as young Raven wink.gif Indianapolis,In

The Peckary also lives here and I would like to volunteer his rather large estate on the affluent North side of Indianapolis for the event tongue.gif

Arminta could provide music and I'm sure that Jason aka Barrdas would make the trip if it landed in the Midwest biggrin.gif I'm just volunteering everyone.

Peace

Mikel

I think Peckerworld would be a great place too! king.gif

Wherever we end up, there's always the next meet to get to one of the other places. So if we miss your town in '08, just wait until '09. smile.gif

That is extremely sound advice OldRaven! I'm ready to come up your way anyhoo! It's already getting too warm down here. We were in the pool Monday and 85, today it's 48. Go figure!

Yeah, same here. Last week it was beautiful and sunny. We actually got above 20 (68). All the snow was gone, and the grass was getting green. Now it's been snowing for three days and todays high will be -1 (30). This blasted arctic low has moved down to the border and is going south east from there. We should be back into the double digits again on saturday though, thanks to the west coast tossing some hot air at us.

I can't help but think that having it in Nova Scotia would be the next best thing to crossing the Atlantic, but I'm not holding my breath. It's quite a bit out of the way. But I got dibs on the next one. laugh.gif

I vote for Nova Scotia too. As long as their are campgrounds. My husband and I love to camp and it would be great to be able to bring the kids and dogs.

Stanfest usually takes place on the Canada Day weekend. July 1st. This should be a good year, as Canso is celebrating its 400th birthday. (Yup, 1604) But, we're not talking this year, so that doesn't really matter.

Yes, there is camping galore. Remember, New Scotland's nothing but hills and forest, so campgrounds are everywhere. I wouldn't recomend to anyone thinking of going to Stanfest someday that you use on-site camping. It's just a field on the hill to pitch a tent on. If you don't mind a 15min walk along the shore and through the old town, you should check out one campground just up the road. It's completely off to the side, fairly quiet, and it's all the way in the woods. Walk across the old dirt road, and you're on the shore. This is where Ange, Ivy and I stayed when we went back in......... '01? unsure.gif

Another thing you all might find interesting is the Antigonish Hightland Games, which is in its 141st year. If we do, I'll talk to my parents about turning the field, or some other part of the farm, into a private campground for a few days. I'm sure they'd love the idea. rolleyes.gif (I think you'd like to see the University as well. It's quite a sight)

This place is all tourism, so if you want me to keep snooping, just say so. smile.gif Stanfest is sort of a multi-cultural folk festival, and not all that much about Celtic music, though it is represented there. There's always the Tattoo. And if you're into the war stuff, there are so many old English and French forts in the region, you wouldn't know where to start. I'd sugest the Halifax Citadel, because then you would be able to walk down the hill to the historic waterfront where all the old docks are still standing, (and being used), and the old buildings as well. Including the Keith's brewery. sly.gif

Look, I could go on forever, so I'm just going to leave all that out there.

(shouldn't I be getting paid by some government agency for all this advertising? laugh.gif )

Nova Scotia would be great. I was there for just one day last summer as it was one of the stops for a cruise we went on. One day wasn't nearly enough. It is a beautiful place with lots to do and see.
