Are there any black thumbs in the midst? I am definintely a black thumb. I even kill cacti here in the desert! Now that is pretty bad! Should I be talking to my plants? Watering my plants too little or not enough? Light? What light? I don't have much light in my house!

Anyway, maybe we can get some help from some of these fine folks who seem to be really good at keeping our lovely plants alive and well!

Rose ...
House plants , to me at least are more persnickity then garden ones..
who are out in the sun and rain ...

You do need light for most plants that flower, but a trip to a Pet Store and a
full spectrum bulb can provide that ... at least some of that smile.gif

Here is a great low light plant, I find charming..Irish Tears..it is in the Moss family

This site is " back to basics" very good ! thumbs_up.gif

Look around Rose, and see what you like...
It is hard to say what you are doing wrong with out knowing what sort of plant,
and how its responding ...

Paula! Those sites were wonderful! Thank you so much! I found out a lot of information in each of those. I put the flower bulb in my sunny room. The rest of the house has two Mother-in-law Tongues and those seem to do the best in my house right now. After killing everything else I have had, I recently just bought those and don't want to kill them too. So due to those sites you told me about, I was able to know how to better take care of them. thumbs_up.gif

Yes, I can kill an artificial plant. I don't even have to touch it. I can just look at it, and it starts to wilt and snuff it.

I gave up a long time ago. Now I just enjoy plants from a safe distance for them.

Just my tuppence.

Whew!! I saw this thread and just had to post..after reading the ones here thus far I was laughing so hard I couldn't type!! Now that is wonderful and what great posts.. lol.gif You all are great!
Let's see...oh yeah plants that I have 'killed'..Two cactus...don't know how and it wasn't intentional, just happened..not certain I can get into the 12 steps now because it appears I am in denial lookaround.gif
I was bummed about the cactus because I had brought them back from Albuquerque and had them for about 3 years and this spring, took them outside like I have always done and that was it..about 3 weeks later I noticed they were dying and I couldn't stop it..one is barely hanging on..I just don't have the 'guts' to throw it aside just yet ~smile~

For all you Black Thumbs out there: I could use your help. There are a number of plants around my house that I would like to kill, especially the giant Fica Tree that is trying to displace my house. I've even used Commercial Herbicides (supplied by a neighbor who worked for a company that does all the tree trimming for the local Power Company) that was supposed be diluted 50 to 1 injected directly into that tree and it still grew back.

I'm not much for killing trees...

Our neighbors had a peach tree that never bore fruit, that used to make a mess of our swimming pool...
My dad tried everything under the sun to kill that thing..
It just seemed to thrive on it wink.gif

Hi, my name is Janet and I also kill plants. smile.gif

The only plant that I have any luck(?) with is the trumpet vine. I started it a few years ago with a twig bought thru a mailorder company. My husband laughed at me buying a "dead" twig. Ha! The last laugh is on him. That dumb trumpet vine is taking over my house!!! If we aren't constantly trimming it, it is over the roof, covers our windows and smothers anything else that is trying to survive. You CAN'T kill it, it just keeps popping up. So....beware the dreaded trumpet vine!!! ohmy.gif
