QUOTE (Arianrhod @ Mar 13 2004, 09:06 PM)
I wonder if PBS would do a TV show on us..
going from home to home.
Helping other women just like ourselves,
with spring house projects...
The hitch would be.. everyone who got help..
had to come along to the next project.. and give a hand !
W00T! that would be FUN !
And we could call it , Without This old Spouse

Without This old Spouse!! Good one! Woo Hoo!!!!

Hubby decided he would get off the couch today and orchestrate the painting. We'll see if it happens.

Wallpapering is fun! Just do it alone. Not a job to be grappling for control. biggrin.gif
Literally just cutting and pasting. rolleyes.gif

I have used small print patterns, not much match. Just have a sharp razor blade edge knife, a big putty knife thing as a straight edge (being too technical? tongue.gif ) and a wet rag. I learned that from my mother. Forget the brushes and roller thingies. Just slap up that wallpaper and then rub out the bubbles with a wet rag.

Painting on a sizing first is good in walls that need it. And, I don't use water with prepasted wallpaper, but self activating goop we get from Sherwin Williams. Just slap it on with a paintbrush. Works better than just water.

Nothing like covering up ugly walls with a pretty wallpaper. OK, there's alot of things better, but you know what I mean.

BTW - nary a finger did hubby lift. Am I suprised? Maybe tonight. But the kids were having a blast puttying up holes and cracks. I should hire them out. Gonna buy the paint today. Sherwin Williams was closed when I got there yesterday. sad.gif
Raspberry! What am I thinking! I hope it looks like I am imagining.

Elspeth...
When I wanted to paint this room yellow,
I got some advice from a friend, who ended up with a guest room..
that looked like a Taxi..

She told me to get a few colours like I wanted,,
and paint poster boards with them..
and leave them in the room..
and look at them at differnt times of day..
This was NOT what I wanted to do,
I want things done YESTERDAY !!
But, I am , to this day, glad I did what she said..

I don't have an eye for paint colour, eyeshadow, blush, low light blood,
those I can see ...
Perhaps you are better at chosing paint than I,,
but if your not..try that..
I was amazing how differnt those colours looked in the
morning, afternoon and evening..
I love the idea of Rasberry, it sounds rich and inviting..
and I bet it hides dirt too ! wink.gif
What else can we ask from a a paint colour ...

OMG I was blathering so much , I forgot to say Thank you for the wall papering advice. when I get good common sense advice like that , I feel so much better about a project ! thanks again !

Paula

I would rather paint and spruce things up myself, leave hubby out of the picture. If he helped then I would have to hear him give me advice and I don't take advice well when it comes to doing things my way! biggrin.gif

Sounds like you girls have got things under control. I have plans to do some closet cleaning this week-end. Hubby is gonna be gone for awhile both Sat. and Sun. I just can't get much work done when were together on the week-end, We're always going out to do something else.

Arianrhod, I can just imagine your children laughing and having a good time pulling that wallpaper off. Little things like that you'll remember when they fly the nest.

Everyone have a good time painting and getting your homes all spruced up. Then you can sit back and relax for a few and then it's time to jump back up and start over! laugh.gif

the ceiling's done and he's about ready to put on the color. Maybe a deep mauve is a better description. I am so nervous! unsure.gif

Let you know how it looks.

Woo-hoo! laugh.gif thumbs_up.gif Post a pic when it's all done. My daughter, my mom, and I are going to pull everything out of the pantry tomorrow and clean and organize in there. What a mess! Not unsanitary or dirty, just a mess! wink.gif

Want to do my hall closet when you're done? Thousands of loose game pieces to be matched to non-played games with broken boxes.

*Runs to Elspeths house with the camera, and some tea*

See miracles happen everyday !

YAY for the Hubby!

If anyone had told me in my rash youth,
I would enjoy keeping house..
then confess it on the internet,,
and discuss it with friends there..
I'd have said they were nuts...
and here I sit ...

I am happy for you Elspeth !
really happy that hes doing the work wink.gif
Have some tea.. and make approving noises

The iced tea is in hand. biggrin.gif

Since it's a snow day today, I will probably cut in around the woodwork so he can finish it off when he comes home, unless I get brave. unsure.gif

I forgot if I mentioned he used to work as a professional painter, so he is obviously so much better at it than me who's only painted a few times.

But we'll see - maybe I'll do it today. Might be fun. rolleyes.gif Then again, might be a nightmare.

It is funny, there is furniture all over the house and we get a snowday. Five people in a small house with no place to sit down. Should be an interesting day. rolleyes.gif

The floor is allways one of my favorite places to sit smile.gif

How much snow did you get ?
A salt truck just went by here...

Rushhour was a mess here, I am so happy I did not have to go in...

I had a friend who was a painter help me paint my house,,
it was a lot less scarey after he showed me a few tricks..

I can't wait to hear about how it goes, and how it looks !
