Hi Irish Stepper ,

Good to see you here, Thank you for coming by !
I live in SW PA it indeed freezes here ...deeply ..

None of these systems are going to "work" frozen,
they are simply "outhouses"
When waste freezes.. there is no smell from decay..
so thats one issue...
I rarely get out to scoop poop in the winter months..
the yard is mostly snow covered..
Makes for a pretty messy first few weeks of thaw.
That is when I get out there, and get the mess up..
and into the system..
Get a fresh bag of enzimes.. and a small bag of lime into it ..

What is in it is gone from last year.. and 5 feet is below the frost line
so things do still decompose a bit.. just not as fast ..
They start to work quickly, as half the work is done by the dog smile.gif

I have yet to have a problem in seven years with smell or room !
I got this system, because I am so close to my neighbors here..
and did not want them to ever have to deal with smell or seeing that ..
I can't imagine not having it now...
I hope this helped ..

In Service to the Dream,
Paula

Thanks for the info. I'm getting ready to move soon, and I have 3 big dogs. I don't want to start off on the wrong foot with the neighbors. wink.gif biggrin.gif I think I'll probably get one. Now, convincing my hubby to dig the hole...hmmm. rolleyes.gif

You are more than welcome !
I do hope you get one..you will not be dissapointed !

The right tools do help!
Putting in some fenceing last summer, we did a lot of digging..
I found the two most helpful things, a BIG pry bar.. and the hose..
It is much easier to dig moist dirt wink.gif

Good luck with your Move !
I know we would all love a look at your doggies !
