Celticrose asked me to start this thread as she noticed I am a Paga/Wiccan/Witch. I have more books on the subject matter the I can read at the moment. I know so many of you who also read the same things I do. So lets post and share what we have learned from these authors, our likes and yes even our dislikes about the books.

THANK YOU Celticrose for asking me to Start this thread!

Many Hugs and Bright Blessings to you all

Thanks RW, your knowledge seems to be endless on these Topics! I appreciate you joining in so much. I know I will be needing alot of your help *hugs*

Well I guess I can start off with the first Books I ever recieved on the subject.

"The Idiots Guide to Wicca & Witchcraft" & "The Idiots Guide To Paganism"

I find that these book put things in Laman terms and give a good base to my beliefs. there are parts that can be a little confusing because as I am still learning, I am finding out that these religions are not "Organized" in to one specific belief. It is more eclectic then I had originally thought wihich suites me just fine. The books how ever do leave the reader with some questions and don't give enough information about Deities. (Thanks RW for your help in that area)

Has anyone else read these books?
What is your opinion of them?
Can you suggest a Better Book for first timers to read to get a better sense of what our "Religion" is or isn't?

Well Don't every one talk at once.

The Lost Zodiac of the Druids By Gregory A. Clouter
There are MANY books on the subject and I find this one a bit dry in places but still has good information in it. Has any one else read this book???

Argh! I never knew you were posting in here. If I don't read all the new posts in the amount of time I am here, I lose what I didn't read.

Sorry.

I am not reading anything Wicca-Related at the moment. I have had to spend my money on other things for the meantime sad.gif

I would NOT read anything by Silver Ravenwolf.

I enjoyed Astral Projection for Beginners by Edain McCoy. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to devote to it.

One of my favorite Wica books is The Complete guide to Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland. It is one of thefirst I ever read, and I still look at it from toime to time. It is a wonderful place to start.

*smacks forehread* How could I forget about this? A friend of mine gave be a book over the holidays called Hex and the City. It is a collection of charms for "the urban witch". It is a fun read.

your not the only one to tell me to stay away from Silver Rave Wolf, most of the Witches / wiccans I have spoken to think she is a Fraud & a Liar. This is not my opinion just what I have been told about her, Some even think this of the "Head Witch" they think simply that these women are a Mockery of what the Rede is.

I also have "Uncle Bucky's Big Blue Book" That was my second book, I am always refering to it. My brother has a wonderful book called "The Master Book of Herbalism" by Paul Beyerl

It has so much information!!! If your in to herbs like I am this is a MUST get for your Library!!! Now if I could just find a copy of my own!

I love Edain McCoy she is so insightful! While Packing up my books I found titles that I didn't even remember having so I have some new material to read which is nice. I will have to put a pictuer of my Fire place up , it has Dragon heads in the stone work, it is beautiful and it is the original fireplace!!! it is the one thing that I told them to leave alone while they redo the house.

Anyway, I'm off again

Finding "good " informative books when you are starting out on a journey to find your own path can be a real nightmare.

So many people have jumped on to the "Buffy, Charmed, Sabrina and Harry Potter" bandwagon that it becomes a little daunting when looking on the bookshelfs at my local bookstore.
It's a bit like buying a newspaper to read the news only to find the pages full of Jokes, Cartoons and pictures of fluffy bunnies.
I like Jokes, Cartoons and pictures of fluffy bunnies but every thing has its place.

Perhaps they aught to label the shelfs "Fluffy Pagan" "Candyfloss Witchcraft" and "the Real McCoy no messing stuff".

Ho hum back to my search for Informative non fluffy stuff.

There is a book that inspired me a lot and helped me to understand the forces we are playing with when we are performing magic. It's "Light over the realm" from Alexandre Moryason.
The aim of my researchs is not to get power but change the quality of my personal energy, the energy of the heart, it can be long. This book can help.

your so right on that Jaxom. If you are looking for information on the craft I recomend...
"Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft"
By Raymond Buckland
It's a great place to start.
Alister Crowley is also good and Non Fluffy

If your Looking for Wicca or Paganism then a simple start would be the Idiots Guides. Or A Wiccan Bible by A.J. Drew

That might give you something to start with.

Happy Reading!

I didn't realize this thread was here until just now! Thanks you guys, for the recommendations. I've read some of them already, but found some others that sound interesting, and I'll add them to my list.

I was actually looking for the old thread of Book Recommendations for Nikki (Vettegal) when I found this. Glad I've gone hunting! laugh.gif
