Who are your favorite authors?

My favorite is Stephen King. I've been a fan of his ever since I chose The Stand from a list of summer reading material between my junior and senior years in high school. My favorite books of his are The Stand, The Tommyknockers, Christine, Needful Things, Cujo, and Desperation.

I also like John J. Nance. I highly recommend The Last Hostage and Pandora's Clock.

Hmmmm, let's see.

1) William Shakespeare- MacBeth, Henry V, Richard III
2) Robert Heinlein- Starship Troopers, The Cat Who Walks Through Walls
3) Tom Clancy- anything
4) JRR Tolkien- anything
5) Chaucer- Canterbury Tales, Troilus and Cressida
6) Edgar Allen Poe- Annabelle Lee, Telltale Heart, the Raven
7) Morgan LLewellyn- Bard, Red Branch, Druids

and (guiltily)

8) JK Rowling- I know she writes for juveniles, but she really knows how to develop a character and create an alternate reality.

Just my tuppence.

In addition to all the worthy names already thrown out, the following are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

William Blake - English poet
Walt Whitman - early American poet
Langston Hughes - modern (20's) American poet
Harper Lee - To Kill A Mockingbird (awesome)
John Steinbeck - I own far too many of his books
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry - The Little Prince helps me remember what's important
