Having read a few threads here. I thought I would ask if anyone here is intending to go to the next "World Con" that will be held in the UK.
I know that it will be in Glasgow (Scotland)
For those who have never heard of it it's the SF world con. (SF = Science Fiction)
At the con they have famous authors attending (a lot paying their own way), masquerade, (costuming) Workshops, Craft Halls, etc.
If many people from this forum are going perhaps there could be a meet for members?
for more info see

I can't make it there, but the geek in me really wants to get to DragonCon in Atlanta.

I'm going to go and am busy making my costumes. they will only be "hall" costumes as I am not skilled enough to compete in the masquerade. I also hope to have slimmed down to 11.5 or 12 stone by that time and if successful will reward myself with a Welsh Cilt or maybe even the full rig out to go. also looking forward to the workshops.

the thing scots used to wear before the kilt was invented. it's wrapped around the body and used as cover, blanket, raincover, coat etc...

Now I remember seeing a documentary where the scots dipped their plaid in a stream first then wrapped it round themselves before going to sleep. sounds strange but the wool would steam and somehow keep them warmer than a dry cloth.
Then in the morning it would be dry and ready to be belted in to place.
Thanks for reminding me.

DragonCon is good fun. I went the last two years but can't make it this year. A little thing known as a school required internship is in the way. rolleyes.gif
