Yeah, Waterhouse was in the Pre-Raphaelite era aka the Victorian period.

I forgot to mention that I love Rembrandt -------- my favorite artist and I have several books on him. And how I have forgotten Georgia O'Keefe! ohmy.gif I have one of her books! She was an awesome eccentric artist.

I have several books on the Impressionism period too.

One book that I have that I dearly love as a quick reference is "Dictionary of the Arts" by Brockhampton! I love that book! thumbs_up.gif

Speaking of Art Nouveau, I really like the adverts done in this style. I have a reproduction of an old Absinthe bill. Very beautiful. It hangs in 'the pub' in m'house.

I'm also very fond of the Impressionists, and Art Nouveau. My favorites are Renoir, Monet, Mary Cassatt, John Singer Sargent, Maxfield Parrish, ...and there's another artist whose style is so close to Sargent's that I often get them confused, but I can't remember his name right now unsure.gif . (I'm sure you all will know who he is, though!) I only have a couple of Art books right now, but someday I'll be expanding that collection! ( The book shelves are being built...)

I am anything but an art connoisseur.. pimp.gif ..but, will be the first to admit that I adore Bob Ross's work...I loved his shows as well...everything is 'happy, happy' and needs 'lots of friends'.. tongue.gif
I admire him because not only was he an extremely talented artist but, a conservationist..he and his wife rescued hurt animals, cared/nursed them on their huge ranch and once 'healed' they would release them back into nature..they also fought for the preservation of our forests and advocated keeping the waters and earth free from pollution.. artist.gif So admirable! I have about 5 of his painting books..some instructional guides while others show his work in oils.
I also like Georgia O'Keefe...innovator indeed!

Freekenny! I love Georgia O'Keefe. What an extremely talented and yet eccentric artist she was! I have one of her books on display in my studio at all times for all to see! I have been increasing my art book collection too. I love the Pre-Raphaelites and the Victorian artists as you have probably read beforehand.

Bob Ross! Now that was a happy fellow. I used to watch his show quite a bit. I have always been a portrait artist, but I did very much learn some things and enjoyed his show a lot. Did not know the personal side of him and what all he did for animals. Thanks for sharing that!

O'siyo CelticRose,
Ni Ya We for the reply biggrin.gif You always have the kindest things to say when responding to a post~~ you must be a very happy person and just so sweet! yes.gif
With Georgia O'Keefe, her eccentric ways only made her that much more of a genius artist.gif
Bob Ross captured my heart not only by his 'peaceful' art but, when I saw him on a nature show and saw where he and his wife were given 5 owls to nurse back to health after a wildfire and when he took them out to release them, well, to see his passion and to hear him in that soft & soothing voice tell them to 'be free' and 'be happy'..well, call me 'sappy' but, it brought tears to my eyes cry.gif
I admire you being blessed with the gift of art CelticRose..what a talent the Great Spirit blessed you with~~ cherish that gift as I know you do~~

I don't know why I didn't think of these folks before, but for some reason I was stuck on past artists! I should never have left out Kim Jacobs, Mary Engelbreit, or Thomas Kinkaid! They each have very unique styles, and all of them make me happy for different reasons. They definitely should be remembered!

Wow! Freekenney! I just saw this post and how so very sweet and kind you are. I love people and love making friends so I try my best to get along with everybody, regardless of my thoughts and beliefs. does that make sense? sometimes that gets me into trouble though too! laugh.gif

I am a happy person as God has richly blessed me if I may say so. Been a very difficult summer for me, but I am trucking on! Looking forward to the holidays now. I love them: Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! Oh boy and yippee! Can't wait! My 20th wedding anniversary is coming up in October too! wow!
