For anyone that likes Julie Garwood, there's another author you should try. Susan King. She has quite a few books out. I haven't read one of hers yet that I haven't liked! cool.gif

Susan king, eh? I have not heard of her!

Well I am going to try once again to go meet author Diana Gabaldon. She is going to be in town...........an hour away from me...............to sign books at one of the posh bookstores in Scottsdale, Arizona. Me and some other ladies from my Diana Gabaldon online group here from AZ are going to meet with her and hopefully all have dinner together! Woo hoo! This will be October 26!

I am reading a cute romance novel right now titled, "Men in Kilts" by Katie MacAlister. It is a charming, witty and funny book about an American author who goes to England to attend a mystery writer's conference and meets a handsome Scotsman. They get pretty chummy and the next thing you know she ends up going to the Highlands of Scotland where he lives to stay with him for................who knows yet how long. I just started the book last night and have many chapters to go yet!

hey Celtic Rose - I have read that one too. It's quite funny. Have fun reading.

If you liked that one - read from Sandy Blair A Man in a Kilt and the follow up A Rouge in a Kilt.

They are pretty good.

Hey Monarch! Good to get some activity on here again! I am really enjoying "Men in Kilts." I almost finished with it. They just got married! Woo hoo! I loved it when he asked her to marry him and she got so excited she fell down the hill and broke her wrist! laugh.gif

Thanks for the suggestions of the other books! I have not heard of them. I will put them on my list to buy. Have you read any of Karen Marie Moning's books? They are so good! All about Highlanders too! wink.gif smile.gif

Susan Howatch has wrote some great books, mainly based on historical characters:

PENMARRIC - seems to based on the lives of Henryll & Eleanor of Aquitaine.

CASHELMARA - another great book, based on Edwardll(Longshanks son) and Isobel of France.

THE RICH ARE DIFFERENT - Caesar and Cleopatra

THE WHEEL of FORTUNE - Edward of Woodstock and Joan of Kent

All great books biggrin.gif

Hey CelticRose - yes I read that one. Pretty good.

It's been a while since I read it so I can't really tell you in detail what happens but I remember it's a good book (if I am not mistaken lol)

Yes I read all the Karin Marie Moning books - just finished the immortal highlander and I am on to reading again

The Wedding by Julie Garwood (very good)

Other ones I just read are from Janet Chapman

Charming the Highlander
Loving the Highlander
Wedding the Highlander
Tempting the Highlander (the newest one)

Other good ones are:
The Dreamer
The Echantress
The Firebrand
(The Highland Treasure Trilogy) by May McGoldrick

Thanks Monarch! I have read most of Julie Garwood's books:

The Bride
The Wedding
Ransom

I didn't know that Janet Chapman had a new book out. I have them all but that one. I have not read any of them yet.

I am now on The Kiss of the Highlander. I have read that one before, but nice reading it again. Was The Immortal Highlander good? I am anxious to get to that one.

I have not heard of the ones by May Goldrick. I will have to get those too! Thanks!

After I finish the Highlander series my Moning, I may read the "Into the Wilderness Series by Sara Donati. I keep hearing how good these books are.

1. Into the Wilderness
2. Dawn on the Distant Shore
3. Lake in the Clouds
4. Fire Along the Sky

Well the Immortal Highlander is this time about Adam Black you will meet the MacKeltar Twins Drustan and Daegus again with their wives.
I got mine from the libary for now - since I wanted to wait for it to come out in paperback - but couldn't wait to read it.
I loved it.

And Tempting the Highlander is taking place some years later when Michael MacBain's son Robbie is a grown man and has some foster children in his house.

Here is the background:

Catherine Daniels arrives in Pine Creek, Maine, at just the right time for Robbie MacBain. She is on the run form her ex-husband, and Robbie is a sexy, single foster parent who needs a housekeeper while he travels back in time to medieval Scotland. Unbeknownst to Catherine, Robbie's looking for a book of spells to save the future of his family... and little did he expect to fine a burning passion in Catherine's arms. Can Robbie seal his family's fate while enticing Catherine to follow him and her own heart wherever love will take them?

It's really good. It came out in September 2004 so it's still fairly new. I stumbled on it by accident. I didn't know it was out either.
