Pretty funny,Aon! lol.gif

My hubby went to NZ for three weeks and that's what he did was rent a car and stayed in bed and breakfast so he could get to know the country and the people. So he said when we go to the UK that that's how we're doing it.

Oh Parmi! That is awful. Hope nobody was hurt! sad.gif

Just wanted to let you know that the cultural posts from you, Cat, are something that I really look forward to even if I don't reply to many of them.

QUOTE (Catriona @ Jan 10 2004, 07:26 PM)
I'm with you, AD... it drives my husband mad. We arrive on some Greek island (for instance) - he scopes out the villa and the pool, then decides where his favourite taverna is located for that visit..... and expects me just to sunbathe and eat and drink.... Now, I love the latter two options, but can leave the first one almost totally alone. I am a red-haired, very fair skinned Scot.... I burn at even medium temps... Suppose that's why our summer's suit me best of all!

He says I've dragged him round more ancient monuments than he ever believed existed! Cyprus, Rhodes, Corfu, Crete - to name a few of the Greek islands. And Tuscany, Puglia, Sicily, Malta to name a few more..... cool.gif

Ah yes, just call me a culture vulture!

My wife and I are the same way! She would rather 'relax' then spend all the holiday moving about. Me, I would rather be in the midst of it all. And Jody LOVES the sun! Me, I am blonde and fair skinned.... I burn if I think about being out too long in the sun laugh.gif ....
I am going to have to break down and head to a beach soon though... I have already drug Jody more places than she has me.... I owe her....
funny the ones we choose , are normally our opposites in many ways....

And, Cat your not flogging the dead horse wink.gif

Yes Cat, I do have Campbell connections specifically Campbell of Cawdor. The family name is Cattell but is a corruption of Caddell/Calder. I don't know how but I am probably connected to Little Muriel Calder. Funny how names change when different people pronounce them or write them.

My Ancestors left Morayshire in the late 17th Century.

Hmmmm I suppose that is one reason why so many Americans/Canadians/Aussies etc find it difficult to find their ancestry - their names often changed by immigration to make them 'acceptable' to how the officer thought the name sounded! Some of the changes are a whole lot more obvious than yours... for instance, some of the polish and german names that were changed by US immigration when people got off the boat are incredible!
