QUOTE (Richard Bercot @ 04-May-2006, 11:30 PM)
If you think that 8#, Spider Wire to boot, is ultralight then what do you call heavy??? unsure.gif

My ultralights I use either 2# or 4# and only will I use the 4# when I feel a Big one is near. I always carry two spools when I use it.

But I am already starting to miss my Flyfishing. I have been going out to our pond at our Caverns and picking up a Largemouth Bass or a Big Bluegill. It is getting late in the season for me to go out after Trout. sad.gif I am hoping next year to get out more than twice like I did last year.

So how long was you able to stay??? And the Big question is, when are you going back.

The fish can run over 30 inches. 8 pound line is light.

I have no idea when I will make it back. It was a major feat and a 5000 mile drive to do 3 days at the "cabin".

Well, I don't know what Safeway is. All I know was the Adventurous Way. wink.gif

Catfishing is fun and good eating too, if you know how to fix them properly. thumbs_up.gif

The last time I went fishing this year was the last time I posted my Fishing Results here and at that time was not good. But I did go out. I had thought about giving up my Flyrod because of my abilities but I have since changed my mind and plan to take it out within the next couple of weeks. Instead of using my small Soft Hackled Flies, I am now turning to using Streamers (which are Bait Fish looking Flies, example: the "Gray Ghost" that I used to use as my Avatar.)

For me, my Fishing Season starts after Labor Day and end at Memorial Day. You usually do not see me on the River during the Summer Days. When I go fishing I like to be comfortable.

During the Winter Fishing I do not have problems with:
1. Heat
2. Mosquitoes
3. Deerflies
4. Ticks
5. Poison Ivy
6. Nettles
7. Other so called Fishermen in my way without any sense of Courtesy.

It is just me and the River. biggrin.gif

Dearest brother, it's so good to see you back!
Well, get all your equipment organised; not long and you will be able to enjoy fishing again - without being pestered by all the annoying things and creatures you listed! biggrin.gif

Just you and the river sounds perfectly peaceful to me. thumbs_up.gif

Sounds like a fun time. Never did learn how to fish but I hope to someday. You would think I would know how with all the trout up here in the U.P.

Well I was able to get out last weekend and do a little practicing on some Largemouth Bass.

Even thought this is not my favorite type of fish, a fish is a fish when you are just out for practice. wink.gif

I was able to catch and land 6 Bass. A 9", 9 1/2", 13", 13 1/2", 15 1/2" and a 16 1/4". All of them was caught with my Flyrod and on a "Woolly Bugger" (a type of Streamer). All of these were caught in a Farm Pond and it was fun. thumbs_up.gif

And Yes, Sis G., I was not hampered by them critters other than a couple of Bats that was trying to catch my Fly. (I was fishing right at dusk)

And to Roberto, you do need to learn to fish. Just read my signature and you will see a good reason, by itself, to get out there. wink.gif

Good news, fishing fans: On December 1, 2006 we are moving into a house in Easton, PA that is within WALKING distance of the Lehigh river. Furthermore, about a 2 mile drive from house is a BOATRAMP! Even my owner's eyes got big at that! tongue.gif

Hi Maisky, being a liberal minded person. Does that mean that you practice catch and release? Just kidding… I know the Lehigh River, having gone on a combination bicycle and canoe trip there. Of course, it rained like we needed an ark, instead of a canoe, the day my wife and I went, but we had a great time anyway. Enjoy.

Dear Abby,

Odd argument in progress in new home:

Wife: "we need to go buy the boat this weekend".

Me: "That is a lot of money to spend right now".

Wife: "But, I'm buying it from my inheritance".

Me: "Im not sure the 14 footer is right, but it is all that my car can tow and that will fit in the garage", besides, $14,000. is a lot of money.

Wife: "Quit whining and buy the boat".

Me: "There is still ice on the river".

Wife: "We need to buy it NOW".

Question: Does this mean my wife wants to have an affair and needs to get me out of the house? unsure.gif
