Has anyone else pondered under what name they want their work to be known?

I have considered my married name, my maiden name or one of my own creation.

What do you all use and why?

I just go by Adam E. Reeves. I find that sounds enough like an authors name as need be. king.gif

I go under JC Watkins. That is my maiden last name and my first initials. You have to decide what feels right to you. The one name that sets you apart .

I've thought about using Aaediwen, but when I printed Mysteries of the mind I just used my real name on the cover and title page, and I still use my rean name everywhere so far. I've looked into the use of psudonyms, and there can be quite some headaches depending on how far you want to go with it and how hard you want to hide your real identity

What has me considering what name to write under is I believe something particular to women.

I had one name for 25 years, and I have had another for 16.

Which one am I? Or am I neither?

Added atop that my husband's name is of a heritage completely foreign to me. But, again it is the name I have been using for 16 years.
Such a quandary......

I can't say anything about any writings, but in the Films that I have been in, I go by

Richard A. "Bear Coat" Bercot

I did not have to stand in line to get that one. biggrin.gif

I usually write under D. Kristine if I am doing poetry, and Chrys Trevin if I am doing fantasy. D. Kristine is my first initial and my middle name, and Chrys Trevin is a character that I write for on a Roleplay site. So they are both me in the complete. On occasion I'll use Dannah K., but no one can every pronounce Dannah, it seems. Everyone says Dana, when its more like Hannah with a D.

So, I have an new site that is pretty neat, Check out Dannah's Home Page

I use M. Weddel for my poetry. First initial and married name.

M. Leblanc-Lowrey for short stories. First initial, mothers maiden name and my maiden name.

I use my maiden name and mothers maiden name to show where I get my "talent" (for lack of a better word) from, plus my short stories are usually about my past. I use my married name to show where I get my encouragement and muse from.

I am a songwriter and use my own name for the copyright, this keeps confusion down and the royalty check gets here on time. My friend who is a poet does the same. He says when we get famous we can afford a pseudonym biggrin.gif

I kept things easy on myself, Angel Whitefang IS my pen name. I chose to use one for privacy sake.

I use my first name and married surname for my artwork signature. Just like the married surname better than my maiden name! That's just me. angel_not.gif

Hello all!

I like this topic. Very interesting to hear the responses.
I have always used the name Tara. That is the 'nickname' people came up with instead of using my real name. But for the last 5 years, I have taken back my real name, Therasa, and the initial for my middle name K. (used to think this was the dorkiest name on the earth-Therasa Karoline LOL) Not many people even know it's me when I use the name. Most friends thought Tara was my name. So, when I sign I TherasaK.

I have a friend in California who is a romance novel writer, and her pen name is Lauren Royal. But her real married name is Lori Royal-Gordon, and I think that would be a great name to have on a book cover! Maybe she's trying to keep a bit of privacy, I don't know.
Lori's books are Emerald, Amythst and Amber and are quite a good read; a bit like Diana Galbadon but better in my opinion...

I don't sign my full name on artwork very often, but instead put SGGardner - I got tired of getting writer's cramp when I was signing stacks of reproductions before putting them out to sell way back when.
