Filte ort!

Welcome!

And don't worry about being slow, each to their own pace. And a little Gaelic is still better than none biggrin.gif

Gun Chleoc is right!

Bit by bit.

Beag air bheag, as the BBC Beginners Gaelic site says...

Just in case you don't know the site yet. smile.gif

Wouldn't that be "mura bheil thu elach air..."?

It's just the assertive verb for the emphatic form- if it's the case that you don't know...

I suppose it's a contracted version of something like: mas e an rud is nach eil....

'mura' would just be 'if you don't know'.

I imagine it's the same sort of structure as: o chionn 's gu bheil, airson 's gu bheil, if that helps.

Thanks, I didn't know that form yet. So far, I can only do emphatic structures with main clauses. wink.gif

Mar a thuirt mi mu thrth - 's beag orm grmar laugh.gif 'S dcha gum bi sibh elach air an t-seanfhacal - "An t-ionnsachadh g, an t-ionnsachadh boidheach". Uill tha mi a' smaoineachadh gur e seanfhacal glic a tha sin. Gu mi-fhortanach dhomh-sa cha do dh' ionnsaich mi-fhn Gidhlig aig glin mo mhthar agus tha feum agam air puingean grmar 's rudan eile mar sin a dh' ionnsachadh. Ach chan eil e furasta dhomh, chan eil e furasta... rolleyes.gif
De a th' ann ann an "emphatic structure" co-dhi?
Cmaibh suas an deagh obair! smile.gif

Emphatic structure?

Tha mran dhiubh ann, tha mi a' smaoineachadh, ach tha a' mhrchid dhiubh ag obrachadh leis 'is' seach no barrachd air 'bi', agus mar sin 's e rdugh eile a th' ann (rud beag mar seo! wink.gif )

Tha mi an dil gum bi thu gan cleachdadh ceart gu ler, ach nach bi thu a' smaoineachadh man didhinn. ('S beag orm.., 's dcha...)

Is truagh sin..
Nach math a rinn thu
Is toil leam...
Mas e do thoil e
Is dcha gu bheil...
Is beag an t-iongnadh gu bheil...
'S urrainn dhomh...

agus a h-uile 's ann construction

'S ann toilichte a tha e an sin
'S ann an sin a tha e toilichte
'S ann ag obair a tha e
(agus: Is esan a tha toilichte an sin, nach e?)

Seo cuid a tha a' tighinn a-steach orm an-drsta. Tha mi cinnteach gum bi liostaichean gun chroch ann, 's dcha anns an eadar-lon. smile.gif

Hal agus filte ort! biggrin.gif

Tha mi an dchas gun crd Muile riut.
I hope you will like Mull.

The name of the language is Gidhlig, Gaeilige is Irish. You have to be careful when surfing the web, there are a lot of online phrase books out there that mix both languages and are full of mistakes. wink.gif
