Watched the film "THR3E" last night. It is based on the book by the same name by Ted Dekker. Psychological thriller about a serial killer.

QUOTE (Rindy @ 04-Jul-2008, 03:25 PM)
The Bucket List-was great, think everyone should have a list!

My husband bought it on Thursday and we watched it that night... it was poignant to us, as hubby's mom is terminally ill with bone cancer and facing her last months here. So we found the movie thought-provoking, and discussed how in M-i-L's case one of the things on her list has come true: the youngest daughter got pregnant and is now married. This girl is a distant, aloof young woman who at 38 still works a retail job with no benefits or security for the future. Back in late May she suddenly said she was going to get married in a few days, at the courthouse with a Justice of the Peace, and that she didn't want any of us there. (That hurt.) Then about two weeks later she announced she's pregnant. And due in December, so M-i-L is taking chemo treatments hoping to stay alive til the baby arrives.

Check that one off the M-i-L's list. Of course this daughter and the new husband moved in with mother-in-law and we're wondering how long it will take them to talk her into leaving them the house and everything else. I'm not a betting woman, but I'd bet serious moolah on this deal!

--------------------
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king..."

Watched "Notes on a Scandal" last night! Whoa!!!!! What a movie! I knew it would be delicate subject material, too sensitive for some. But on the whole it was a very well done movie, the acting was terrific with Cate Blanchet and Judi Dench. Set in West London, the accents are incredible and just watching English culture fascinated me as well.

We watched "The Bucket List" a couple of weeks ago and while you do see and get the comedy of it, it does change how you perceive certain things when health is an issue.

Siobhan Blues - I'm really sorry that this is happeneing in your family. We went through the same thing, one of my Aunts who never did anything for anyone unless she got something too, agreed to live with her mother as grandma was nearing the end. We would buy grocery and special things that grandma liked and then watch as my aunt took whatever she wanted before showing hwer mother what was 'dropped off'. She conned grandma into buying her a new fridge and a piano and then put grandma into extended care. When gramdma dies she came around asking all her siblings to give her their share of the house and estate. It was a very bad time and she is still not welcome in the homes of some of the family. I hope things go better for you!

The new Batman film (The Dark Knight) is everything the hype makes it out to be and more, but utterly exhausting. Don't bring any little kids -- I'd say minimum 11 or 12 years old, for the violence or for even getting what is going on. It isn't a fantasy comic book treatment -- it's a high tech, high suspense crime thriller.

stoirmeil;

I just purchased and watch the HBO series John Adams which I really enjoyed. A most intriguing and complicated individual.

I saw the dark knight on opening weekend. I would have to agree that it is not for smalll children. Don't want to give them any ideas about what they can do with knives. Heath's preformance is great but I wish they would get away from the facial scars. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that I really wish they would bring the blue and gray costume in. How hard wuld it be to just throw a gray shirt over the bat amour. You can barely see the bat logo and the yellow and black logo had a specific purpose in the comics. Take the ears off the costume and you have Marvel's Black Knight character in black. At least it wasn't as bad as the last Superman movie costume. While this was on of the best of the Batman movies I think I'll go watch Batman: Dead End on youtube again
