APPALACHIAN PADDY

The Elders were founded in 1998 by six individuals with a passion for music rooted in Americana and Celtic folk rock. From the beginning The Elders seemed to be channeling something ancient and enduring – something unaffected by fads, trends and the giant maw of mind-numbing commercialism. Their ability to bring together the art of story telling with elements both musically progressive and rooted in tradition, has won them a broad international fan base, as well as critical acclaim in numerous publications.

Here are the Elders playing one of their recent tunes called "Appalachian Paddy" which tells the story of Dinny McCann a sliver of a man who emigrates to America and becomes part of the fabric of America - Appalachian.

If you would like to see The Elders play in person, come on out to the North Texas Irish Festival next weekend. They will be playing alongside other exceptional bands and musicians such as Brian McNeill, The High Kings, Máire Ní Chathasaigh & Chris Newman, Jim Flanagan, Tullamore and many others. You will note that many of the preforming artist can be heard playing here on Celtic Radio.

The Elders are one of my favorite groups. You can also catch them live this summer at the Dayton, OH Celtic Festival July 28-30th.
