Question, do any who wear a kilt from time to time notice people watching as if to try to catch a peek? Initially I thought I was just self conscious but I am fairly sure now it is for real. I am not "careless" , the kilts are properly fitted and the "tartan police" would be proud of me.

One of the pieces of advice my late Mom left with me was, "If you're going to dress like a Highlander, you need to learn to sit like a lady."

As I said, I am not "Careless." It could be also that though we have a strong Celtic community here, it is rare to see Scot dress other than occasional parades and funerals.

Patch;

Being Regimental (au natural) became official during the Victorian Era. It seems that Her Majesty (Queen Victoria) and her advisors thought it lewd and disgusting that the men of the Highland Regiments wore no undergarments. Most immoral. It was ordered by Her Majesty as Commander in Chief that all Highland Regiments immediately begin wearing undergarments when dressed in a kilt. There was however a major problem. At that time men's unmentionables came in two styles, Long Johns or Knee length, both of which showed beneath the Kilt and after all one could not have one's Highland Regiments walking about with their undies showing. It was with great reluctance that the order was rescinded and much to the delight of all that the old tradition was reestablished. Whether the above is true or not I have no idea but I do remember reading it quite some time ago. Nothing like a cool breeze blowing "up yer shuft" on a hot day. Hell in the winter though.

I love that video. One of my favorite songs is 'The Scotsman' as sung by The Brobdingnagian Bards. I can just imagine what those girls were thinking of when they saw him sleeping.

There is a companion song for the Scotsmans Kilt where a mother and young daughter find a blue ribbon in the park. I have been unable to find it since I first heard it.

I would love to hear that song. It really sounds interesting. I will have to do some research to see if I can find it. When/if I do, I will post it here.

Just dropped by to say hello and found MacE up to his old tricks.

It's been a long time since I was here, and damn I've missed this place.

Welcome back! We are having lots of fun.

Men in kilts are rare around here. I would love to see more of them. I think that wearing a kilt here in the states takes a bit more confidence. The men here seem to have a certain idea of what a "man" should be and wear.

Many years ago, I was on a cruise in the Virgin Islands when I heard a voice in the buffet line behind me that had a thick Scottish accent. I couldn't resist striking up a conversation. My g/f and I ate lunch with him and his g/f (both from Scotland). During lunch, I mentioned to him that someday, I'd like to have a kilt. He offered to let me try his on, since we were both about the same size. I took him up on it, and after lunch we went back to his cabin, where, for the first and last time in my life I wore a kilt. I have to admit that I did keep my boxers on underneath, but after all, it wasn't my kilt, and I didn't want to offend my new found friend by going commando. My g/f took some pictures, which I can't find, but I keep expecting them to show up on the 'net one day.

Although I don't remember his name (this was 15 years ago and I've slept since then), I really wish I could run into him again. We exchanged addresses, and I promptly lost his. He did send me a tape of Runrig's live album, which made me a Runrig fan for life.

So if you happen to read this, thank you, and let's get together again someday.

I still think I'll buy that kilt someday. And yes, I'll wear it properly and proudly.
