How sad this is sad.gif ...I seen this on the news a week or so ago that Waterford Crystal is Bankrupt. I did a google search and found out that it is so. It seems like that most of their profit was from the good ol' US and since we're in such a mess finacially so is Waterford Crystal. If your interested in reading the details you can find it in USA Today.

This is really bad news...I've been to the Waterford Crystal facilities where the men worked their crafts and learned so much from them....

No craftsmen would work in the facilities until he has completed 10 years of training
and they kept the tradition from the start for no women worked there only men.

I bought exquisite champagne glasses and a paper weight designed as the Irish Shamrock.

What a sad bit of irony. They were the ones who designed and made the new ball for the New Years Eve drop in Times square

Waterford Crystal was bought by a New York-base firm KPS Capital. Yesterday was the last day for the staff. The Visitors Center will remain open. If anyone wants to find out more details I got my info from... www.rte.ie/news/0925/2007/wedgewood

I have some that my mother bought when she was in Ireland. I have never been interested in collecting glassware but have found that Waterford "jumps out" at you!

Unfortunately some of their world's finest crafts and venerated businesses are likely to fall by the wayside in these times. At the very least, quality will diminish.
