It's time for the annual baseball world series poll. Maybe your team didn't make the playoffs. My team didn't, the Reds didn't even come close. Just a poll to see who thinks will win it all.

(Self Commentary) Well, no joy in cubby land. The cubs are now down two games to none against the Dodgers. Looks like it will lights out for the Cubs. Phillies are up two games to none on the Brew Crew.

Are we suprised? The curse apparently still lives...

Not surprised that the Cubs are choking in the playoffs. The cruse of the goat still continues. biggrin.gif I am surpirsed that Boston took 2 games from the Angels out on the west coast.

Ok, two teams have been eliminated. Chicago Cubs and the Brewers. This should make you voting a little easier.

I've been a Dodgers fan since they were the Brooklyn Dodgers. They're due (in my opinion anyway).

TheCarolinaScotsman,

Looks like the Dodger's have a new swager about them since they picked up Manny Ramirez. I like their chance of beating the Phillies to move on to the World Series. They went 4-4 against Philadephia this season.

Wow, The Phillies take the first two games at home against the Dodgers. It will be interesting to see how LA responds with the next three games being played in Los Angeles. Boston is up 1 game to none over Tampa Bay.

So far zero (0) votes for Tampa Bay to win the World Series. The Rays are up 2 games to 1 on Boston, and tonight lead the Redsoxs 5-1 after 4 innings. Looks like the Sox could be in trouble. Philadelphia is up 3 games to 1 over Los Angeles. Only one more win to put them in the World Series.

OK so the Phillies took care of business and beat the Dodgers. The Phillies return to the World Series for the first time since 1993. Just when you thought the Redsox were finished, they make a dramatic come back to win game 5. Next game is in Tampa Bay.

Looks like this is becoming the Ogdenmusic only forum. Well, after Tampa Bay was up 3 games to 1 over Boston. Boston has come storming back to force a game seven in Tampa Bay tonight. The winner will go to face Philadelphia. Should be a great game tonight.

Ok, with only six votes in the poll there must not be very many baseball or sports fans out there. Could it be that the Boston fans are still crying in their beer?

The Philadelphia Phillies win the 2008 baseball world series.
Sure it was the strangest of all World Series clinching games, but do you think the people of Philadelphia care? The Phillies certainly don't, after winning just the second World Series in their history. They were a deserving champion, and Cole Hamels was a deserving Most Valuable Player. Hamels won Game 1 and then started the clincher, way back on Monday night. Then came the 46-hour delay between the top of the sixth and the bottom of the sixth. Some will question Rays manager Joe Maddon's pitching decisions once the game resumed, but the Tampa Bay players preferred to look back on how incredible their worst-to-almost-first ride had been. As for the Phillies, Pat Burrell had no World Series hits until his very last at-bat, and then it was his leadoff double off J.P. Howell that led to the Phillies' Series-winning run in the seventh. Brad Lidge, the closer who was perfect all season, was rightfully on the mound at the end, surviving a one-out Dioner Navarro single and then striking out pinch-hitter Eric Hinske to allow the celebration to begin. It was an emotional moment for Phils manager Charlie Manuel, whose mother passed away earlier this month, and also for Phils general manager Pat Gillick, who plans to retire now that the season is done.
