As you know, we are working on a Medieval Home page. One idea we are kicking around is to have a graphic map representative of all of MK.

This map would be like a google map where you could zoom in, zoom out. See each Kingdom, County, Clan as represented by colors.

For now, the map will just be the data and Kingdom data.

Just a couple ideas to run past you on the maps, kingdoms and clans. To me, it makes more sense to cluster clan members in the same grid on the map. Then time of march to another kingdom could vary depending on how many grids away it is. Also, the clans could form alliances, making a "free pass" through one clan territory possible, but requiring a clan to "fight" (lose men and resources) to get through a clan territory allied with the enemy clan. Perhaps moving through a free pass area twice as fast and an enemy allied area half as fast, making plotting a particular course part of the strategy.

I like the idea of the google overview type map. Adding in some physical landmarks that affect troop movement in the game such as mountains, rivers, etc. would also make the game more interesting. Perhaps it would also be a good idea to make a towns placement on the map benefit/effect resources, such as being next to a forest allowing more wood or being near a large valley allow mor farm production and so on.

Although I still haven't even created an army to march TheCarolinaScotsman had a great point about wasting resources/men simply to move through an area that is allied. I belive I've played a strategy game that referred to that as a "right of passage agreement".

I look forward to anything that comes out Map wise though!

Has anyone else seen the game TRAVAIN?

Very similar game to this, I found it a few weeks ago and have been plying it.

Just notice this game today (sorry, been out of touch)

Could have some idea there, although, from what I've been reading, there are MUCH better ideas going on here!
