I've always wanted to get myself a kilt even tho I've been made fun of at work and in with my friends for wanting to wear what they call a "skirt" lol
The problem is where I live there is practically no where at all to even look for anything like this. Anybody know of any place or website to go to get a Kilt for less than an arm and a leg. i don't want a cheap cheap kilt but I'd also like to not spend all my honeymoon money on finding one lol
Have you tried The Renaisssance Store? I don't know about their kilts but I have order other things from there and was very happy with what I got. You can order on line. Renstore.com I just looked at the catalog for one and it's $94.95. You get 5 yards of unpleateed fabric that makes into a full kilt with a shoulder wrap, comes with instructions on how to fold and pleat it. Hope this helps

Googling kilts is your best source of information. Our Band kilts are 16oz fabric 8 yards and heavy. You will pay anywhere from 400-600 depending on supplier. Go to euspba.org calender events for higlhand games in your area. There is usually a couple of kilt suppliers at the games. Good luck
How about Scottishkilts.net, they have kilts for $240 (whether that is cheap is a question for you) Of course then you would need a sporran at the very least to go with the kilt.
By the way, ignore (ignorant) people calling it a skirt, the people who matter will appreciate it.
I spent about 2 hours last night viewing many of the "Mock-U-Mercials" there. Some are good, some not as much- but definitely entertaining. You can also check this out: http://www.usakilts.com/

I have two modes: wiseass and dumbass. Mode is determined by current blood alcohol level.
Drinking is a sport. In order to be competitive, you must practice on a regular basis. Although you can practice alone, it is much more fun to practice with friends. If you're out of shape and practice too hard, you will regret it the next day.
Life is a disease. It is sexually transmitted and always terminal.
Sportlilt is not too bad if you don't mind the company patch. I would suggest ordering a regular one before you decide on buying one of their "The works" kilt just because exchanging sizes is easier. You can also order a sash for over the shoulder for about $30. With a little work it can look like a full kilt. http://www.sportkilt.com/
Don't order the one with buttons on it from museum replicas. And I would avoid Clansman Knitwear if you need it in a hurry. Customer service has its extreme ups and downs in that company.

I just sent this to Shenaniganz via PM, but for anyone else looking at cheap kilts:
That's me on the left in the pic (with the cigar) in a USA Kilt That's my friend Josh on the right wearing my camo UtiliKilt. Both of them were suggested previously here, and both will run about $110-$120 for the kilt. For either one, you'll want a belt. With the USA Kilt you'll also want a sporran, you can pass on that with the UtiliKilt. Either way, for about $150 or less you're good to go. For a "first kilt" you may like the pockets on the UtiliKilt.
P.S. yes, you heard me right.. I let one of my friends borrow a kilt. What can I say- I've known him for over 20 years.
The single most useful bit of advice anyone can give you regarding kilts: If you plan to wear it "proper" make sure you get some BodyGlide anti-chafing stick. There are numerous online drugstores that carry it, and many kilt sellers will also. Warning: graphic but really necessary description follows!!
Apply it to your thighs where your scrotum will contact your them. Else you *will* chafe and *will* really regret the next couple of days.
