QUOTE (Dogshirt @ 09-Mar-2009, 11:27 PM) | Better by far to be the hand that holds the sword or axe than the head that holds the crown. The throne is no place for a warrior's ass!
|
I wouldn't say that a throne is no place for a warrior's ass my lord Dogshirt as many Kings and Queens in different countries's history have fought side by side and died on the field with their subjects even some not wearing the Royal Crown nor Royal Armor in order to blend with their men thus preventing capture from the enemy for ransom...Richard Lionheart in the Crusades, the famous Saladdin as well as the infamous Edward 1st that brought down the great warrior Sir William Wallace, Queen Mary of Scots all lead their men into battle as well as Queen Boudieca,Charlemagne, and many more.... So, though I understand your meaning I can honestly say that the throne is indeed a place for a warrior's ass....as Kings and Queens were (at least in medieval time and even before that era) powerful figures and many a good war strategists and leaders on the front. That is why men were proud and honoured to serve and ready to give their lives for King and Country Lady of Avalon

Your Majesty,
Your humble servant Taliesin of the Town of Buchanan begs an audience with the noble Lords and Ladies of this court.
As a loyal servant of the Queen, I would be horrified if any of my lowly vassals thought to raise arms against the rightful Queen of this realm. The men and women of Buchanan only wish to eke out a peaceful existence, farming, mining, and gathering the resources of the small realm which has been bestowed upon us.
If we raise what may only with the utmost grace or dishonesty be termed an army, I can assure Your Majesty and the Lords and Ladies here assembled that such a gathering of fighting men would serve merely to protect and serve the people of Buchanan.
Yea, it has often been said, "Heavy is the head that wears the crown." The responsibilities and cares of directing a realm as vast as Your Majesty's kingdom are far beyond the ken of your most humble servant.
Indeed, if you see me near your vast forces on the battlefield, it is only that I may join my pitiful forces to Your Majesty's to defend this realm from traitors who would betray your most generous benevolence with treachery.
You may count my pitiful realm as standing in support of your decisions, of course, Your Majesty. But I stand by my loyal proclamation in your support.
Ever Faithful,
Taliesin of Buchanan
