Who are the Celts
And whence they come
No one can really say
An Ancient folk
From out of time
To Europe came to stay
The Greeks of old
They knew them
Gave Keltoi as
Their name
The Romans learned
To fear them
For to Rome
They caused great shame
Some say they
Were Barbarians
And others claim not so
For skilled in
Gold and Iron
And warfare we
Now know
One people they
Were not, but
Spoke a common tongue
Culture did unite them
And make from
Many one.
Be they Scot
Or Breton,Galacian
Or Gaul they left
Behind a Legacy
That did define them all.

LOA;

My Lady there is a very thin veneer between civilized behaviour and the Barbarian in all of us. The name barbarian comes from the Greek "Bearded ones" so in a sense the Celts were aptly call that but then the Greeks themselves also wore beards. Who would call Plato, Aristotle or Socrates a barbarian.

LOA;

It is strange to think that by the standards of the modern worlds all the great civilizations before us were Barbarian, but then we are only semi-civilized ourselves and future generations might well think how Barbaric we were. angel_not.gif
