Ahoy mateys,

Well... Loreena McKennitt. My adventure into this artist's realm of relaxing music was from the Book of Secrets. My step-mom had known about her stuff for a long time as she was in that kind of music. She introduce me to the visit and a few other albums which she gave me on my b-day. Upon finding Aaediwen in the vast web of net, I found out he has quite a story with Loreena McKennitt. Ask him about it sometime.

While I've been out collecting Nightwish things, I decided to find some rare stuff of Loreena McKennitt. The Bonny Swans, and the Mummers' Dance single. Some things you can still get in Vinyl and Cassette if desired. Some things new you get now are remastered and may come with a DVD, too! You can check her label at http://www.quinlandroad.com

Okay Aaediwen, I invite you to tell your experiences of the concert(s) and other neat things you have witness in your Loreena McKennitt experiences... muahahaha!

-William (Ratrophy on IRC at www.celticradio.net) By the way.. trivia night this coming weekend! More details follow, read the threads somewhere about it... or just pester MacFive!

Very simply , Loreena is a gift to us all from God.I have had the priveledge of seeing her twice now in concert ( Victoria and Calgary - Ancient Muse tour ) , and she simply had me spellbound .
I don`t know what Aaediwen`s story is , but when I was in Victoria to see Loreena with my daughter , they were taping interviews during the intermission with fans , and my daughter and I just happened to be in the right place I guess . Anyway , I have recently heard there will be a DVD released sometime in the near future about what it is like touring , performing , etc. , with Loreena , and I`m hoping to see if we made it on or not.
Anyway , Loreena is an Angel .

I know her since 1994, with the (wonderful) album "The Mask and Mirror".
She's a grateful harpist and a superlative artist.
Love her !

There is the 2 CDs & 1 DVD set "Nights from the Alhambra" which came out after her last studio album. Barne's & Noble has it but I don't think there is any backstage stuff.

I have every one of her CDs which I then legally copied onto my iTunes.

I have Nights From The Alhambra , have watched it a zillion and one times in the past year and a half.
The DVD I mentioned earlier is now out ( A Moveable Musical Feast ) , band.gif
and I just ordered one today . I`ll let you know if my daughter and I managed to sneak on or not.
By the way , I just realized something , that I must sound like the poster - boy for Loreena`s PR dept. or some such . Although I fell in love with her music from the first time I heard it , and still think she`s wonderful , she`s not the be-all and end-all of everything.
I shall try to broaden my horizons around here in the future.

Drat, the site shows only audio cassettes still available. Looks like I'll have to hunt Amazon, eBay, or other sources to find some of her stuff in LP format. Augh! So many choices to pick from for my next mail-order vinyl purchase! biggrin.gif laugh.gif

You speak blasphemy!!!!

Nothing can beat the experience of vinyl!

Digital does have its merits, but it can never match clean analog.

There are other threads here where that discussion continues, however.

Hey everyone, Yes I totally agree Loreena is a gift to us all. I reside not to far from Loreena and have crossed paths with her several times, when she is home and not on tour. She has been very generous in assisting local musicians in their career development, as well as being on board numerous community projects. She has a gentle, but commanding presence, is a very driven worker, and absolute perfectionist, no detail is too small in her mind. We admire her to the fullest, and are always keenly anticipating her work when we hear she has gone back into the recording studio.

Loreena has two songs on the "Tinkerbell" soundtrack. Actually one song and the 2nd is kind of a remix. She also does the intro on the DVD which is not too bad of a movie for the munchkins. Not Pixar level but not Barbie level either.

As as a bit of Halloween strangeness one of her songs started playing on Celtic Moon just as I statrted to type out this post.
